Fix

At first I didn't think this would fit my 2002 LS. I couldn't figure out how to get it in position. Eventually I realized it has to slip under the rear bumper cover and that the screws securing the bottom of the bumper cover will never be able to fit again. The manual mentions using zip ties and also said they are included, but I didn't get any zip ties in my sealed box. Also, there was no fishing wire with this hitch as my previous CURT hitch had, even though that is also mentioned in the instructions. This was quite disappointing as that was my favorite part of the last CURT installation. I even saved my old fishing wire from my previous one in case I ever needed it for something, but these bolts were smaller and it wouldn't thread them. Thankfully, I discovered that my arms are skinny enough to reach inside the rear bumper and insert the carriage bolts from behind without a wire. I don't think most people's arms would fit in there, though. The biggest negative, however, is that this hitch requires drilling into the metal rear bumper. Hopefully you have a good set of cobalt bits or something similar because a bumper is very hard metal and normal drill bits will not do the job. My last CURT hitch didn't require drilling so I had just assumed none of them did. Regardless, I have everything installed now and it's working out great. I'm still a loyal CURT customer, I just hope the next one at least comes with the tools that are mentioned in the instruction manual.UPDATE: I should add that I did not purchase this for towing. It is strictly only used for my Yakima DoubleDown bike rack. I am skeptical of the LS's towing abilities.
