About this item

  • Smart Voltage Safety Kill Switch : When voltage is below 11.8V/23.2V, an alarm will sound after 60s, the device will be automatically disconnected after 120s. When the voltage is higher than 13.3V/26.3V, the remote control will fail to work to prevent accidental pressing
  • Low Power Consumption: This remote battery disconnect switch with magnetic hold relay, and the standby power consumption is only 1mA. So it is more energy saving
  • Wireless Remote Control: Our battery disconnect switch comes with 2 paired wirless remote control that can be remotely controlled from up to 25 meters
  • Manual Control Button: The battery kill switch includes manual control button that allows the user to manually disconnect the battery switch if necessary
  • Specification: Switch current rating: 240A, adaptive voltage: 12V/24V, standby power consumption: 1mA, power off point: 11.8V±0.2V/23V±0.2V, instantaneous current: 500A

Works fine without any issues however in my situation I was not able to simply set it on top of the battery due to the style and configuration of my battery and battery compartment so I had to modify a way to attach this. Probably not an issue with most cars and trucks. The unit worked well, remote works as long as you are not too far away. One interesting note however is that each time you disconnect the system you have to reset all the electronics like radio and clock etc.

Quick simple and easy to use comes with all the necessary parts you need especially nowadays with theft on the rise with a lot of vehicles I suggest you get it a battery kill switch. The plus side is that if you're battery does start to drain like for example you're in a parking lot long-term well on vacation or you have a battery that tends to die quickly this will give you reserved power enough to turn power on for the main unit jump starting your car essentially with enough reserve left in your battery. This is a must have.

This device is designed to be installed on the negative battery post to act as a remote-control cut-off switch for the negative battery cable. Breaking the connection disables the vehicle. This is great for dealing with battery drain, but as a security device, it's a bit obvious. Anyone looking under the hood of your car would see it immediately and would be grateful for the prominent "ON" button on the face of the device. Fortunately, the battery connectors are removable, so I installed it where the negative cable connects to the vehicle chassis. It is much less visible and accessible there. This makes the installation more difficult, but makes it more effective as a security device.I like the use of a remote control rather than a concealed kill switch, because finding a place to hide the switch that the thieves haven't already thought of is a real challenge. The instructions for adding/deleting remotes were obviously written by someone for whom English is not their first language. I found them somewhat difficult to follow, but not a showstopper. I did have a technical question and contacted the seller through Amazon. I received a quick reply.

So far this device has been working as intended. We've had a past issue with a parasitic battery drain so we installed a manual battery disconnect, but that meant having to open the hood every time we parked or entered the car. Although we grew accustomed to doing this it was a bit cumbersome and occasionally caused some confusion (once a passerby saw my wife opening the hood to disconnect the battery and offered assistance, thinking she had broken down).Today this device arrived and I immediately installed it. The instructions are quite sparse, but it is a fairly self-explanatory device, so I was able to install it within about 10 minutes. I did have to adjust the connections a bit in order to get it connected, and it doesn't sit flat on the battery, but I think it'll stay put.As soon as I had it connected I was able to connect and disconnect the battery via the remote control fobs. So now when we park we can exit the vehicle and, if desired, disconnect the battery without touching the hood. I say "if desired" as this device apparently has a feature that, if a battery drain is detected, will automatically disconnect the battery (after issuing a "chirp" as a warning) so as to stop that drain before it reduces the battery's charge to a level insufficient to start the vehicle. We haven't tried that feature yet, as we've only had the device for 1 day, but we may do so in the future as a test. This is marketed as a security device, but if you have a parasitic battery drain it will allow you to avdoid having to jump start (or even tow) your vehicle due to depleted charge, as well as help prevent the necessity of having to replace your battery prematurely.

My zero turn mower sits unused for 6 months a year. Buying a new battery for it has become almost an annual ritual.I installed this kill switch on a warm day in earlier this spring. It's too early to say how well it works but I'm hoping that it can stop the discharge before the battery is damaged beyond repair. If this latest battery lasts a few years the switch will more than pay for itself!
