I’m rather unhappy with this. I have another type of walk behind salt/seed spreader that costs less and works better than this one. I wish I never bought it. The assembly was overall easy, however the directions do not advise you of the tools you need, screw drivers (both types - Phillips and flat head), a rubber hammer or small hammer, 2 wrenches or 2 pliers. The grate fits great however it is difficult to remove once it’s put in and it is made from flimsy plastic. It looks sturdy, however it is miss leading. The cable is very weak, does not stay fully attached at the handle gauge and actually requires 2 hands (one to adjust the gauge and the other to prevent the cable from bending out of shape. The cable is like a bicycle cable which is far too weak for what is being done. Others use a metal rod to adjust the spreader opening. A flimsy bicycle cable is a bad design flaw. I One of my wheels already fell off since the hardware only has 1 screw for one wheel and the directions do not say that you need a second screw to lock the tire in place (actually skips that step and has you only tap the locking cap on the axle. Over all the first time I used it I thought it could be good once I started to spread ice melt. The rest of the times I could not open the drop mechanism so I was left spreading the ice melt by hand. The larger grain ice melt types do not flow good. The smaller grain types works much better. On the good side it spread significantly wide (one pass down and back) is enough to spread ice melt on my entire driveway. The faster you walk the further the spread. The wheels are very sturdy and roll over various surfaces with easy. The hopper bin is large enough to hold a full 20 pound bag of ice melt without rising above the great and there is enough room in the bin you could fully fill the bin with 2 bags of 20 pound ice melt without rising as you walk and spread the second bag flows smoothly through the grate and catching any clumps that would clog the auger. The frame is very sturdy so it will last a long time regardless of the weather conditions. Over all, save your money on this and go with a different brand. Spending $100 on this is a waste of money. Go with something more sturdy for a few more dollars. If you do buy this keep the box in case you need to return it. I tossed my box out and can not return it. I guess it could work good as a flowe-pot or something. Two thumbs down and negative ( - ) stars if I could. I had to give at least 1 star to send the review, I tried zero stars however I could not submit it without one.

This tow behind spreader has to be assembled. When assembled the bottom plate that controls the dispersement of the product does not close completely. Therefore, the product goes straight through the machine to the ground. There is no way to control the flow. Manufacturer refuses to remedy this problem.

Did not sling far. 6-7ft. depending on the seed. But did the job fairly easy.

Instructions are a little vague but it’s easy enough to figure out, everything was there needed to assemble. Works as it should. Would have been 5/5 if not for the instructions.

I spent two hours putting this spreader together. The last step is to install the cable from the hopper to the control handle. That’s when I found out it was defective and does not close. What I waste of time. I now have to spend another hour taking it apart so that I can return it.

I just finished assembling this spreader and am looking forward to using it. Having said that the assembly was very difficult due to unclear instructions and parts that didn't fit.Regarding parts that didn't fit the wheels are supposed to be held on the axle with a "button cap" that is to be tapped on. The button cap is too big, no amount of tapping will make the teeth grab the axle. In order to install the non drive wheel I had to get out the drill press, drill a hole in the axle and install it using a cotter pin (the way most of these lawn implements have the wheels held on).In step 2 of the installation you are to install the forks. There are 4 logical ways to position these forks, only one of them results in a proper alignment of the gearbox and it's next to impossible to figure out which way is the correct way by looking at the picture. Now that the assembly has been completed (after much rework) I'm pleased with how the spreader looks and feels. I expect it will work well but I'm happy that I chose to buy the extended warranty which I don't usually purchase (I did so due to some other negative reviews I saw online).Sarah A
