Dragon Skin Electric Guitar Strings feature DR’s K3 clear coating on a nickel-plated steel wrap wire to prevent dirt and perspiration from reaching the hexagonal core wire, preventing corrosion. The K3 coating, which is applied to all strings in the set, is ultra-hard and doesn’t dampen vibration like softer coatings can. The strings have more projection, fewer unwanted overtones, greater clarity and articulation than uncoated strings.

I have been using elixirs on my acoustic guitars. I saw these on sale and two packs for less than the price of one set of elixirs so I decided to give them a try. I really like them. To my ear, hey sound very similar to the more expensive elixirs and they are easy on the fingers. I like them so much that I bought some from my electric guitars also.

Haven't had favorable experience with coated strings in the past. I wanted to give these DR's a shot because I like everything else I've tried by them. These strings are fantastic. Put 11-50 on my Gibson scale guitar during complete setup and they sound and feel great. They sound like uncoated DR's! Will definitely be using these on my other electrics.

I love Elixir strings, and for a while I used them with my Gibson Les Paul studio. I mainly play in Drop D and sometimes standard, and always used 11-52 strings. The neck of the guitar, in Gibson fashion, has a hairline crack in it. And to relieve tension just a smudge, I was recommended these Dragon Skin strings from DR.I been using DR DDT 12-60's on my heavy Epiphone Prophecy for years and I love them. I was recommended these because they would reduce tension a tiny bit, and have a good coating very similar to Elixir strings, but with a natural, raw punch to them, kind of like Ernie Ball strings.Ive been blown away by the longevity of these DR dragon skin strings and the tone you get out of them! Raw and punchy, but they last a long time almost like Elixirs! It's a perfect tradeoff.I highly recommend these strings.
