Safe for fish, this product definitely reduces the muck in your pond.I have a small pond of about 1,000 gallons that had regular algae blooms. It's the good algae but I had so much that it was turning my pond green, cloudy, and full of muck. I could not see the bottom of the pond and it's only 2 feet deep at the deepest section.I only used this product once (single application) and, after a week, I can now see the sand and stones at the bottom of my pond! I can see the fish again, even when they're not at the surface. This product absolutely does the trick and it's easy to use. When you apply the product, make sure you spread the pellets around the pond fairly evenly for the best results.5 stars.

I put this muck reducer in my smallish goldfish pond that was full of dark green water and I couldn't get cleared up and over the next few days to week it got clearer and clearer. This is the only one of the few I've tried that I could actually see a noticeable difference. I don't think my water is quite up to the optimal temp yet so I only see it getting better with time. It didn't hurt my fish or plants either. So overall, I'm pretty impressed.

This review is for: Dr.Raifya's Muck Reducer - 8 OZ - Safe and Easy Natural Pond Sludge Solution, Effectively Removes MuckWith a 12’x12’ 2800 gallon naturalized pond I dug and installed in my backyard 30 years ago, I am no stranger to muck from leaves, twigs and grass clippings. The muck buildup wasn’t an issue until about 9 years ago when the 5 foot center well revealed a thick accumulation that would soon begin to affect my goldfish’s winter hibernation. That’s when I learned about muck digesters and clarifiers.Over the last 8 years I have tried various brands of muck removers with little variation in results. They all work, but it takes a longer time than people realize to do their work. Digesters have enzymes and sludge eating bacteria that colonize and multiple slowly and in warmer weather and water. Some are vulnerable to colder water and die if too cold, or can’t sustain and grow when the natural waterborne nutrients aren’t yet active. Most digesters require water temps warmer than the average 4 season climate brings until very late spring or early summer. Adding them in early Spring, you look for immediate results; not seeing any you assume they aren’t working.I decided to try Dr Raifya’s Muck Reducer because besides the bacteria and the enzyme pellets, they also advertise the addition of nutrient pellets to feed and boost their growth. Whether the other reducers I’ve tried do also, I don’t know because I’ve never seen that mentioned. Science would say that adding nutrients the feed the bacteria and enzymes as they developed ought to bring support stability to develop an effective colony of bacteria and boost enzymatic effectiveness.Since we are having an extended cold early and late Spring this year, addition of the Dr Raifya’s shows no dramatic effects, but I look forward to reporting here when I can make a comparison to the other muck digesters I’ve used in prior years. I’m hoping for a noticeable standout! Currently my pond shows the benefits of having a sustained program of muck reduction. After 8 years of regular annual treatments my Winter/early Spring pond water has been staying noticeably clearer for the last 2 years. Yes, it’s a slow process, but if the sustained growth and spread of both my water lilies and my self seeded African Water Fern are any proof, sludge removers and patience pay off! I will update this post in August when the warm pond water creates more algae. Here are the features that I most appreciate about Dr. Raifya’s:* 8 strains of beneficial bacteria, 3 highly active enzymes, AND NUTRIENTS* I prefer the ease of pelletized, not liquid digester application. As effective as liquid muck reducers are, they really stink! I mean REALLY, I gag every time I use it in late Fall, as mine is winter active.* Safe for plants, fish, birds, pets, and the many forms of insect and wildlife that come to my pond* The pellets are heavy enough to sink to the bottom despite my heavy aquatic plant

Needed some pond treatment solutions to help clean up the little pond I have in my backyard.. between leaves from the fall and grass clippings after mowing, I’ve notice quite a bit of gunk & algae lately. I started using this a week ago and already noticed a difference so it definitely does help. One thing I will say is be very very careful when you first open the cap on this container, when I went to pull off the inner cap on my kitchen table, I ended up with little muck balls all over the place lol.. other than that, the product seems to do a decent job and I would recommend it to others.

I got this much remover specifically for the green angel hair algae, which is maybe the most stubborn life form on the planet besides maybe tartegrades. This stuff is so strong that you can brush it with a steel brush and it just laughs at you. I admire it's resilience and respect it a lot.So I try and use good low chemical or no chemical ways to combat it. So this fills the bill on the former. I tried it, and I can actually tell (I know my pond very very well, they're like little earth babies, they need tons of care). And this much removed isn't bad on the angel hair, but it can't stop it. It's like a college guy trying to guard Jordan... he can do a job but it may be insufficient if downright hopeless. As far as the other muck, sure it fights it and breaks it down.Fair.

This stuff works!!! I added a capful to my pond, and wherever the pellets landed on the bottom, it almost looks like I cleaned the spots with a toothbrush. It really works fast! I have about 20 fish in the pond, along with a dozen or so bullfrogs, and there has been no negative reaction by them to the product. I'm anxious to see how well it cleans the pond over the next month or so, and if it is as good as I am initially seeing, this is one awesome product. It did cloud the water for one day, as I think the process quickly degrades the muck and creates particles in the water that cause the cloudiness. The good news is that went away in about 24 hours with the help of the filter system. Recommended
