I have a few Baofend UV-5R style radios. I like them for their compact design and versatility. For use in close proximity with other team or organizational members, these short antennas are great. They add to the compact usefulness of the radios and work well at Hamfests, camping, and other team activities where a longer, bothersome antenna can be a nuisance at times. The only concern with this particular purchase was that, while packaged the same, the antenna (black stub area) was plain, and not marked with the model number as other purchases have been. That calls into question why? If these are truly "Diamond" as the label on the plastic evelope states, then why are these particular antenna's not marked as my other purchases have been? They work well, although I have used any instrumention to confirm the specs or compare.

I camp with a group of folks. We all have Walkie-talkie to communicate. The whole group is now using this antenna now. Does seem to affect range as we camp. Love them!

4 of the 6 had best SWR right about at 456MHz, and it was really good, like 1.1-1.3. The 464MHz SWR on these 4 were in the 1.75-2.2 range, which is still quite acceptable. The 2 outliers had best SWR at 452 & 460MHz, with 464MHz SWR at 2.75 & 1.75 respectively. If best SWR would have come up between 462-467, it would have been a solid 5 stars for GMRS use with no question. These were pretty close to that & are some of the best stubbies I have tested. These are keepers for GMRS use.I did not see a second good reading near the specified 144MHz. I would not call these duel band for use in that range. That's the only reason why I rounded 4-1/2 stars down to 4 rather than up to 5. They had been advertised as duel band and useful at 144.The individual package actually says 144/430/1200MHz. I tested one at frequencies above 500MHz. It showed best performance around 1,030MHz at around 1.3 SWR & another dip to around 2.5 SWR around 1,200MHz . The upper dip was fairly wide. The package further lists 10W & 50 ohm, with a bunch of Chinese writing as well. The antenna shells are labeled as Diamond brand. They are labeled as being for wide band receiving coverage. It says nothing about transmit coverage. Stubbies are notorious for not transmitting well, but I did not test transmit range.
