Edited to add: I've put it under a mattress protector after just an initial wash hoping not to have to wash it regularly. It is definitely infrared and very comfortable, and it does not produce ANY change in any EMF (I've measured with a trifield meter), so it really is a nice pad. I still wish it were washable more often and slightly larger to fully cover a king bed, but it's the only pad I've found that's infrared or EMF-safe without the hassle of water, and we do love these things about it.I have emf sensitivities and have done so well with infrared mats in the past. I love this carbon fiber strength and so was looking forward to trying. It came well-packaged and can be washed in a bag on wool cycle...but with a note in directions and on the tag that was not here when I bought it that it can only be washed up to 5 times (either this way or by hand). This just isn't tenable for dust mites, etc, since it doesn't get nearly hot enough to kill these and it's a big investment to not expect it to last very long washing it regularly. It's also about 5 inches short of either side of a standard king bed. So I'm not sure what to make of this.
