Excellent design, very sleek, the material is of very high quality. It has NO ridges anywhere which is something that I was definitely looking for. Initially, the sound wasn’t super loud because I was not positioning it the ‘right way’, until I turned it around and the little chamber (the whole where the air passes through) was facing my chin and that was a whole different story, boy it is VERY LOUD!Main reason for getting this whistle was especially for when I take my dog out for walks in the woods, sometimes he likes to wander around and I don’t always have a clear sight of him, but when I blow this little thing he bolts right back to where I’m so no need to be yelling or calling his name. Now I pretty much wear this whistle every single day, mainly as an emergency back up no matter where I am or what I’m doing, I just feel safer wearing it. Worth every penny!

For dogs or grandsons - gets their attention so they can come see what is needed.

Bit skeptical about this, but it is well made and light to wear. And it is loud when I whistle. Good buy.

I bought this for my daughter as something she would wear on a daily basis for security. It is smaller and less obtrusive than I thought, and she likes it!

Way too quiet, ok for a dog whistle, but, for attracting attention, way too quiet!

Nice little whistle. I've been shopping for something to attach to my PFD for kayaking and have tried a couple of other whistles before this one. A Fox 40 safety whistle I bought just plain didn't work. I could blow until I was blue in the face... It just wheezed. Another I bought, Coghlan's Function Whistle, worked fine. Wasn't super loud. It's black and sort of disappears into my black PFD. I also bought a Vargo Titanium Emergency Whistle. It'll blast your head off.Reason I mention all these is for comparison sake. Of the four whistles, the Fox was dead last. Mine is clearly defective. Some people had better success with theirs. Coghlan's has extra stuff on it that I didn't want, which made it bulkier. I would question the water resistance of the compass and thermometer that comes on it. Definitely don't need that on my PFD zipper. As mentioned above, also not as loud as this one and the Vargo.Between the Vargo and the Autuveen.... it's pretty much a tie, imho. The Vargo has a plastic insert that makes the whistle scream. The Autuveen is metal inside. That's a point for Autuveen. The Vargo is longer by about 1/4" - 1/3" (I eyeballed). A little easier to hang onto with the additional length. BUT, the Vargo is straight and smooth. This one has a couple of flares on the shaft that help with grippiness. That said, it's VERY smooth. The Vargo has sort of a matte finish on it that I find a little easier to hold with my fumbly hands. I have a slight preference for the Vargo in this regard.I knocked one start off because I really dislike the ball chain arrangement. Vargo provides a cord. Neither provide a clip of any sort. So that's a point against both models, imo. Mainly because I need to clip it on something so I don't have to fish it out of a tight pocket with potentially cold hands, in the water. The LOOOOONNNNGGGG lanyard on the Vargo at least gives something to grab to pull it out of the pocket. I don't think I would trust the ball chain thing to not come apart in a critical situation. Hiking, backpacking, EDC....no problem.Soooo, my opinion is.... it's a nice whistle. I'm going to put it in my backpack for hiking and use the Vargo on the water. Mainly it's a question of how you want to use it, and you might want to add some kind of substitute attachment method. Both the Autuveen and the Varo will deafen you and innocent bystanders.Side note, this is not a ball whistle, so you gotta blow pretty hard. Pro tip: go outside to try it. My dogs were not amused.Overall great little whistle. Hard to go wrong with it.

I am a swim coach that doesn't know how to whistle. I know . . . it's shameful. But after years of practicing I just haven't been able to master the craft . . . and thus I picked up this whistle. This arrived in an unsealed ziplock bag. Granted, the ziplock bag is thick, but it is unsealed so there is no tamper protection. The chain is a simple ball chain in a separate ziplock bag. It was not tangled and it was easy to string the whistle on it. The length is right for the necklace to blow the whistle when wearing without it getting in the way.The whistle itself is lightweight and fairly attractive. Initially I gave it a light breath and all got was a slight wheezing sound. After much testing, I handed it to my 7 year old who gave it a whole hearted blast . . . and the whistle in turn gave a true blasting sound. After regaining my hearing I found if I blow full force I get the loud sound that I need on deck.I really don't like that there is no tamper protection in the packaging, but the product itself is nice quality.
