I am reminded by Amazon that I first bought the current mat in 2015, so it has seen a lot of use in the 8 years since. It will crack, and it did crack in one odd spot early on, so I was able to keep it going since I do not really use the chair over towards the one side. Then recently cracks started appearing where I really use the chair, and that is now a problem. There is also a loud crackling noise, which is a bit off-putting! So while you do not get the roller divots that you get with thinner and softer plastic matts, eventually you will be replacing this expensive mat. I am 230 lbs and with a 50 lb chair that is quite a workout, so I certainly got my money's worth! Just not quite a 5-star performance, sorry to say.

The chair mat I had was 10 years old and had a lot of cracks in it. I delayed buying a new one because I did not want a cheap one that would slide and crack and difficult to lay down. I read the reviews and this seemed to be the best one for the money. It arrived in a roll. I took it out of the box and put the old one in the box to dispose of it. I laid it down and my chair rolls easily and the mat does not slide. I am a 70 year young lady and was able to do this without help. I am 100% satisfied and will buy this again in 10+ years. The reviews are wonderful and helped me make the right decision. Thank you.

I have a plush carpet with a thick pad so it was a little challenging in my case to find a mat that would not move under my high-use desk chair so here's how I accomplished this:I secured this mat to my carpet using a good quality double-sided carpet tape and then using the same tape, I secured a nice quality, similar-sized, low-pile rug on top of the mat. That has given me a rigid platform for my chair to roll on and it hasn't moved in 5.5 years. The only issue is that the mat now has cracks (I can tell because of the sound it makes every once in a awhile when I step just right). This may possibly have been avoided by using standard casters to better distribute the load but I was using rollerblade wheels which most likely caused a higher pressure (PSI) on top of the mat.

1 month of ownership and the floormat seems to be as advertised. No issues with bending/cracking on a thick carpeted floor. I have the mat wedged between a few things so I'm not noticing any slipping but that might be just because I have it wedged

Purchased February 2014 and it started cracking in October 2015( note: the product description says guaranteed not to crack ). It is now cracked in several locations all the way through ( i.e. not just surface cracks ) . One standard-sized office chair has been on it with no abuse or other unusual activity. It needs replacement because the cracks are now a hazard ( plastic pops up ). It's doubtful I'll pursue their warranty but want to let other know this claim isn't true even with normal usage.Update: 26-Dec-2016: Amazon was kind enough to replace the cracked original( the manufacturer pretended to allow returns but really just makes the customer jump through multiple hoops even though I sent them clear photos of the cracking - their policy seems to be: assume the customer is lying ) but now, approximately 18 months later, the replacement is starting to crack ( I weigh 190 lbs, so it isn't me causing a problem ). Also, it won't stay in one place for more than a couple of hours before it needs to be moved back.

The 53x48 polycarbonate Cleartex UltiMat is by far the best chair mat I have ever purchased. After quite a few of the $50-$70 PVC mats from Office Depot, Staples and others that badly off-gassed, cracked and lasted at best 6 months, this one is a breath of fresh air (literally). The mat is thinner than PVC, but it holds up extremely well under my 6-2 275 lb body. Compare the properties of polycarbonate and PVC and there is no comparison. After about a month, it has been a great value for the price.Pro's: Crystal clear, durable, large enough to allow chair movement, does not dent from chair wheels, ease of chair rolling.Con's: Higher initial cost (could be offset with long-term durability), short carpet studs that allow some shifting on med-plush carpet (3/4" with padding), it flexes a bit (not really a problem).12/2/2012 Update: The chair mat cracked. Use was within specifications and the chair wheels were new, so the cause is unknown. The reseller, Zuma Office Products, directed me to the manufacturer's customer service center shown below. It seemed more like a 3rd party distributer.US Logistics and Customer Services813 Park Avenue, Murfreesboro, TN 37129, USATel (615) 225-9800This rep had me email the Floortex contact below, providing a copy of the receipt and photos of the damage. Louise responded the next day and asked about the chair wheels and if any chemicals had spilled on the mat. I provided photos of the mat, chair wheels and environment, and satisfied her questions. After completing a simple 1 page form and sending $22.00 for shipping, I received the replacement mat in about 5 days. The whole process took about 2 weeks and Louise was very helpful. The texture on new mat was a bit more coarse, but otherwise it was identical. Overall, I was happy with the warranty claim experience.Louise BoyleCredit Control SupervisorFloortex Europe Limited,10 Miller Court, Severn Drive,Tewkesbury Business Park,Tewkesbury,GL20 8DN,ENGLANDTel: +44 (0) 1684 853030Fax: +44 (0) 1684 273731Email: lboyle@floortex.comWeb: [...]12/10/2013 update: The mat is still like new and highly recommended.5/8/2014 update: The mat has multiple 2" cracks, but still functions if I avoid those spots. I probably could go through the return process again, but I'll probably just add a nice wood top to it with flooring. There is no way I would spend $200+ for something I could make for maybe $50. Oh well...I had high hopes for this mat.
