We purchased a similar one 2 yrs and it quit working. Caught this unit at a good price and if it lasts 2 years will easily pay for itself versus buying bagged ice. Small that the previous Frigidaire and quieter.

We have bought a few of these. One for our house, one for our holiday trailer and a couple for gifts. Just love it! There is always fresh ice.

I have probably run 5 gallons of water (that had been passed through a Zero Water water filter and had zero taste) through the ice maker in an effort to remove the horrible plastic taste it gives the ice (think of how a plastic ballpoint pen tastes if you've ever stuck it in your mouth). Absolutely no success. The bad taste from the ice maker remains totally unabated in the ice. It ruins any drink into which you put the ice. Soooo nasty! The ice is possibly useful in an ice bag if you have an ache or pain, or to cool food and beverages enclosed in a sealed container, or to preserve dead bait on a fishing trip, but I can't imagine what else. Sadly, the return window had closed before I discovered this problem. Now i have to find an environmentally friendly way to dispose of the worthless piece of crap.

The EFIC101 has been working for me for more than 4-1/2 years without any problems. Like any small ice maker it has its limitations: small ice basket, no refrigeration for nuggets once made. Also, there’s no self-cleaning option so it requires the occasional draining and washing down of exposed parts. I particularly dislike the difficulty with accessing and removing the drain plug, so I siphon off the water. Thus, it gets four stars and not five, One tip worth noting is that you should always use filtered water. I have a filled Brita water pitcher parked nearby so there’s always “clean” water at the ready. I don’t know what the interior working parts, the ones that actually make the ice nuggets, looks like or how much mineral buildup might have taken place since April of 2020, but I still haven’t noticed any “off” flavors. Sure, it looks a lot like a dozen or more small portable ice makers for sale at Amazon and they might even all come out of the same factory somewhere in China. But this is the one I bought and it’s still working well.

We live in an older home in Arizona and no water line to the fridge. Ice is a must. It takes a while to get a full bag if we're completely out of ice but once the inside has come to the right temp it takes just a few hours to have a bag of ice that'll last us 3-5 days in the summer. My sister leaves hers on continously because they go through so much ice in her family. My granddaughter loved ours so much she asked for one for Christmas. And the ice cubes are the perfect size. *Don't expect speed until it cools down inside. It averages about 6-7 minutes for the first 9 cubes to drop. *you need to let the old standing water out if you don't run it daily or it'll start to get mildew. It's easy to clean because of the plug on the bottom. I put it on the counter by the sink, open the drain so any excess water flows out, and use the spray nozzle on my faucet to give it a good rinse. On rare occasions I've seen the start of mold but that's our fault for letting old water sit in it. *The ice bucket is small. Common sense tells you that if it was much bigger the ice on the bottom would be completely melted before the top was made. *when you put a bucket of ice into a bag for your freezer it's going to be drippy. DUH! The first cubes on the bottom have started to melt once they are dumped. Drain some of it and put it in the freezer bag. When you take the bag out give it a few taps on the counter to break them up and pour in the next bucket full. It makes your ice cubes harder because they've been double frozen. ***You should buy the ice maker. You won't regret it.

First things first. It says not to flip upside down. It's like a freezer, there's freon and other magical technology that requires a level surface. I let it sit a few hours before I plugged it in.By the hand of Odin, I have ice! Thank the gods of frost and water. I just had acl surgery on my knee and it's perfect for regular ice to fill my cryo cuff. It's not that fast so you'll need to give it a couple hours of ice making.Going to the fill line with water makes about two trays full of ice. You'll have to empty the tray and put the ice into a bowl and put it in your freezer. Do that twice and theirs enough ice to fill the cryo cuff. No more ice cube trays yaay! Some reviews say large cubes get stuck. But I've had no problem. Large is the way to go but it takes longer to make, obviously.Large fan on the right side duspels hot air, it's a machine, it creates heat, duh. Make sure there's a good pathway to let it vent.I've been running this thing pretty steady in the morning and in the evenings to stock my ice up. Hopefully it can handle the constant use!

I bought this one because a friend had one similar, branded differently, but I thought it was the same one. It is! Let it sit if it’s been turned over moved, around in shipping etc and fire it up. Started making cubes as quickly as I expected. Remember....it’s not a freezer so remove the cubes as soon as the tray is getting full or sooner if you want them to keep. Don’t worry if you don’t though, they will just keep recycling until you use them. I’m very happy with this maker!Edit….if you’re having a hard time getting ice quickly try this little tip. Add some ice to the water when you turn it on for the day. Ice starts making sooner and the cubes are larger! (Added this two years after purchase)

We don't have to go out for ice and have it half melted by the time we get home. The Igloo is easy to use and one session of ice making will last us for a week.
