Please be aware that this doesn't take standard camping tanks as most others of this design do, so don't be mistaken. This is butane only with a larger connector, not your small threaded propane style tanks that you may be used to. I had not realized this as this is definitely not the norm, so my camping tanks were not usable here. My recommendation is to use one that offers a connection to a standard camping tank as those will always be able to find.

This thing makes me feel like a cartoon villian with a flame thrower. I cannot help but laugh manically when lighting coals for our grill, logs for our campfire, or weeds along our fence line (perform with extreme caution). It works well, you can refill it, but man is it not really safe in a fun way! Worth it in my opinion, but we've always had concerns about me being too into fire. Great gift for the pyromaniac on your list.

We have spent more than an hour trying to get this to work, and that doesn’t include trips to the store to get butane. The product description page gives no clue as to what butane to buy, and the one we bought simply does not work. We took the canister back to the store, the employee looked at it and said there was no other type, and he could not get it to fit either. We can get the canister to fit tightly enough to send the butane through.I looked through all the reviews and no one else seemed to have this problem, so I am wondering if I got a defective item. In addition the only video I could find was a manufacturer/seller video, and the torch used in that video is totally different from the one I received.Not at all recommended.As a Vine Reviewer, I receive selected items at no charge from Amazon, in exchange for a fair and honest review. OK, this is NOT a toy...Unless you're like me, a 'high-tech Redneck!' Yeah, I know, it ain't exactly 'high tech', but it beats them little butane lighters for us rednecks that likes to start FIRES!And start fires , IT DOES!I'm surprised what can be done with butane fuel, such a 'mild-mannered' gas.I actually DID do some 'official-use' burning of scrub in the front garden with it's lava-rock mulch. I don't think those weeds'll be back awfully soon. But, cranking up the charcoal grill... THAT's HILARIOUS FUN!"You wanna EAT, don't you?!?!? My husband enjoys this. It's good for smaller projects. He has mostly used it for starting campfires, the grill and torching weeds. Works good for all of those. The additional adjustable pieces are a nice addition and can come in handy. It's also easy to adjust the flame which is great. It is only compatible with a snap joint canister, so make sure you get the right one.

I wanted a simple alternative torch flamethrower for butane and this fits the bill and budget. You will need to use a lighter once it's started, but it's easy, you will hear it, rather than see it working.After you line up the tab and the can simply twist the actual torch to lock it in place. Also easy and a good design. I've had some cheap butane camp stoves give me a flaming run for my money because they were a pain to attach. This is exactly what I was looking for to melt ice patches this winter and start some campfires. It will be used on weeds in spring.I have bigger flame weeders, but wanted something lightweight that I can grab in a pinch to do the job.Good price, good design, just remember to twist the torch and not the can to get it to stay!

This easily burned the difficult to remove moss between my pavers.Easy to light.Comes with two extension tubes, three lengths possible.Reasonably priced for the solid quality.Haven't tested, but given the temperature will be quite useful melting ice.Could use an ignitor (nice to have).Had a bit of difficulty removing the butane can (small) once turned off.On is Counter Clockwise, off is clockwise, non-intuitive.
