Here’s the problem. You’re a professional hand model with a burgeoning international career, and you just got done smoking a 15 lb brisket to perfection for 14 hours. You need to handle this brisket, but it is hot, heavy, and oily. If you touch the 205 degree meat with your bare hands, your modeling career is over. If you touch the hot meat with rubber gloves, the heat will get through the gloves quickly, and you will be in pain. If you handle the smokey, greasy meat with cloth gloves, the fabric will soak up the oils from the meat, your hands will get hot, and you will have gloves that permanently smell like succulent meat, and that’s not good because there’s this bear who has beef with you. These barbecue gloves solve this all-too-common problem. Here are some features to consider when looking at these gloves:WaterproofCreating a liquid barrier is necessary to protect the hands from oils that can often be well above 200 degrees. Oils from meat are excellent at penetrating fabric, and people do not want oily gloves.InsulatedInsulation is essential for barbecue gloves. These gloves have enough insulation to protect the hands from heat long enough for the wearer to handle meat right off the grill or out of the smoker.Low MaintenanceThese gloves are easy to clean. With food preparation, cleanliness is the most important consideration. A person can wash theses gloves almost as easily as one can wash ones own hands.ColorYes, barbecue gloves seem to always be black. That is probably to keep them from looking dirty when they get soot on them, and there is always plenty of soot in a smoker. I think I wish these were red or orange, but maybe black is the way to go.ComfortThese gloves feel good on the hands with one exception. There is a lot of bulk between the fingers that is unpleasant.Long CuffsThese gloves have long cuffs to protect the lower arms when reaching into a smoker. This feature will also reduce the chances of hot liquids running from the hands to the lower arms.Hanging LoopsBoth gloves have hanging loops so the gloves can stay suspended off of surfaces and remain uncontaminated.OversizedThese gloves are huge. I don’t care who you are; unless you are gamma radiated and feeling angry, these gloves will not be too small for you. The oversized nature of these gloves makes them a little difficult to use, and they clearly limit dexterity a bit. The advantage to the spacious interior is that the gloves are easy to get off and on. Being able to quickly put on and remove these gloves is a valuable trait for a barbecue pit environment. There are many situations a person might need to quickly put gloves on and take them off while grilling.BearsPlease don’t feed them.ConclusionThese are great barbecue gloves with many good features and few drawbacks. I recommend these gloves.

I was skeptical about these, but after using them have more confidence. They use different method of protection from the bbq gloves made of heat resistant cloth material, but they do protect your hands/arms from the heat when reaching across the hot grill. They also have an advantage over the cloth gloves, in that you can use them to pull apart pork shoulders or otherwise handle the food without getting burned and then wash the outsides with soap and water. The inside has a thin layer of smooth fabric, which you don't want to get wet.

We’ve been making two rotisserie chickens on our charcoal grill each week for a while now, and while the results are great (plenty of chicken for the week - salads, sandwiches, bowls, etc.), the setup gets tricky once the coals are blazing hot - especially when placing coals to the sides and positioning the drip pan in the center. I picked up these heat-resistant gloves to make that part safer and easier, and they’ve really helped. They handle high heat without any problem, and the long cuffs provide solid protection for wrists and forearms - crucial when reaching into a hot grill. The gloves fit well and stay comfortable, even when your hands are in the grill for minutes at a time. The textured grip gives you solid control, even with greasy or slick surfaces, and they’re waterproof and oil-resistant, so you don’t feel heat or steam seeping through. Cleanup is easy - just a little bit of soap, rinse, and dry.If you do high-heat grilling or use a rotisserie setup, these gloves are a practical upgrade. They’ve made the process smoother and safer, letting us focus on the food instead of avoiding burns.

These gloves are heat resistant. I was cleaning and re-seasoning my griddle over the weekend and these worked great washing the griddle as my first step pouring water on the hot griddle and then scrapping these protected from the steam when you're scrapping and I was able to wipe with a paper towel and then when I was re-seasoning and had to rub the heated griddle and then wipe the seasoning basically off and just leaving the thinnest layer on the griddle I was able to just take a paper towel and wipe it off with these gloves on. The only small downside was the loop to hang the gloves was not sown on well and gave out without even hanging the gloves.
