Simple and functional, but I have the feeling that it's just not going to be very durable and tolerate heavy usage. I guess it depends on the size of the earth that you need to aerate, but I view this as a handy small-area tool, such as flower beds, and not so much for the entire grass of the yard.

Clogs up easily. I wouldn't recommend.

As MANY have said the tool clogs up almost immediately and the cores don’t just flop out so you can keep going. You need to carry a screwdriver with you to pry out the compacted soil and try again. It’s well build and easy to assemble. Good height so it’s comfortable to use so long you have some weight behind you so you can step down on it.Glad I hired a company to come out with a machine to do this miserable job!

I think between our clay-ish soil, and the ground perhaps being to wet, I'm finding that the Aerator is only making holes, I can't get the plugs out. The hollow core just get gummed up with the grass / dirt / soil and if you continue using it will make more holes which is kinda the purpose of aerating, but I'm not really seeing the plugs that I'd of expected ... but again, it makes some big holes which is what I wanted .... The height of the tool for me (5'8") is good, easy to get the prongs into the ground with your foot / applying weight, and the easy to pull back out. Seems like the prongs loosen up a bit while using, might have been a better way to secure the prongs / corer to the bottom. But the ground will be dry again within the week, so I'll be using it again at that point to see if I get better results and less gumming up of the corer. And if at that point the lawn is covered with plugs, I'll be sure to come back and update my comments.

Tried this in my yard that hasn't been aerated for several years and it was a joke. Worked once or twice and then got completely clogged up and had to remove the plug by hand every single time.Seems like it could work well for soil that is already well aerated, but my experience was very frustrating as the spines got clogged immediately every time I used it.Build quality was very good - feels very strong. Can adjust it for different heights but not on the fly, requires tools.

This is the 2nd Core Aerator I have owned. This one is made a lot better than the other one and will be my go to aerator. It has 3 cores and looks like it can expand to 5. I like that the cores are open so if they get plugged up it makes it easy to remove the compacted dirt. The handle has 3 different positions so it can be taller or shorter based on your height. I’m 5’9” and used the middle holes and it seemed comfortable. I’m going to use it a few more times and then update the review to see if it still performs well.

Very nice and solid lawn care item. I wanted to do a core aeration but dont want to pay a lawn company to do it. This item has corer plugs that you can replace or change for slimmer version ones where other hand corers are welded in place. This makes maintenance on it very easy. The corer's are held into place by set screws. The length of the bars are adjustable in 3 positions so you can adjust to your preferred working height.

Finally, there is one of these for someone my size. The lawn aerator device is made well overall, and it feels very solid. The coring spikes are large enough to be truly useful and the tapered exits for cores allow for reasonably easy removal of the previous plug as you step down. The fact that you can change and/or replace the spikes is also very ideal and easy to do. However, what impressed me the most is that is actually made for someone my size. I am 6'8" and these are always so short that I break my back using other ones. But, this one adjusts to various heights to fit most body sizes. But, it is great that I can keep my back straight while still holding on the handles with a firm grip. The only problem is that I no longer have an excuse to give my wife about why I can't do this to our lawn.
