Despite knowing several ingenious and/or tedious ways to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew or just buying a screw cap bottle (preferred by more and more vintners anyway) I like to bring one traveling, no matter what. These are cheap enough to write off if one use does the thing in, but I've had some that proved surprisingly durable. Corks and bottles do vary. Functionality can vary too and a wine opener can come in handy for other tasks. Color - black is my favorite, but all seem fine to me.

These are perfect for travel. Thats about it. TSA often confiscates in europe which is nuts but expected now so multipack works.

I picked these up to make a bunch of 6x12in "handy travel stuff" canvas pouches for myself & friends. I always end up accidentally forgetting about my multitool or pocketknife or scissors when I go through airport security, or I forget to bring or end up losing pens or a scarf or my notebook, or I end up having to use a shoelace for a makeshift clothesline when paracord would have been just the thing, or I space out bringing a lighter or a flashlight -- you know, all that stuff that you bring and lose on the trip, or stuff you forget to bring but would have ended up coming in super-handy at one point or the other, or stuff that inconsistent airport security screening will let pass in one country but clamp down on in another for some unknown reason. If I'm not traveling around on vacation or business, it'd be handy stuff to just have in the car. In this case, TSA inconsistency fed the need for these. If you look up the TSA rules for corkscrews, these ARE allowed, but all it takes is one overly-cautious officer to take your perfectly legal corkscrew to la-la land. It's happened to me a few times over the past 20 years, so rather than spend a lot more for just one or two I bought a whole mess of these and filled up my pouches with them. If I lose one, I'm not going to sweat it because I'll have a bunch more available. As corkscrews go, they're not the best, but they don't have a blade and they'll get the job done. If they break, no big deal.
