I'm using this latch for a set of double doors on a tool shed I recently built and I must say - for that purpose - it is overkill! Which is praise, mind you. This latch would definitely be able to handle a proper barn door. The construction is very rigid and dense and it makes a satisfying clanking sound upon opening and closing. As you can see in my review photo, I did add my own hardware to secure it to the door because the wooden panels are thin and I wanted to bolt it tight from the other side. However, if you are securing it to a more substantial structure, the supplied hardware should work just fine.

I was searching for decorative horse related items for the barn and came across this stall door latch. The latch has a nice finish and is heavy duty. It's a nicer latch than what I have found at farm supply stores and a nice finishing touch. Well worth the money.
