Product is compact and easier to use than your average ridgid tool. Mandrel spins with the screw so it (supposedly)buffs out the copper as it flares...I bought it for this reason because I thought it would buff out imperfections left by the deburring tool. However, the chrome in the mandrel chips off. It has chipped/flaked off during the first use for both of the units I have attempted. The metal underneath “sticks” to the copper and the flare is not smooth. (Oiling the head helps with this). The chamfer on the block isn’t an even 45 degrees, so the flare isn’t pressed to against an even 45 degrees on the outside. Finally, the spinning mandrel tends to thin out the metal on the rim of the flare, and creates an uneven rim. In short, it is a well built compact too with some great (unique) innovations, but 1/2 of my first dozen flares were unsatisfactory for use with refrigeration. Some may have been user error, but not all. I’m disappointed with the chipping mandrel and would expect more from American made Imperial tools.

The flaring part of the tool has agouge in it after a typical flare. Not sure why.

I do a lot flaring and this tool is great. The Yolk turns smoothly and the block grips the pipe tightly so it wont slip out. Worth the money
