We love this thing! So great! The only thing we wish it had was the ability to alter the amount of time the lights are on as different plants require different times for optimal growth (ex - spinach, 12 hours). I am sure I just missed it in the description, but that would be my only comment!UPDATE - after using this unit for a number of months, one thing we wish was different are the buttons! The buttons are VERY sensitive and are just touch buttons, so HIGHLY susceptible to accidentally hitting one when raising/lowering the arm. Once you do, the timing is gone. So, you have to remember the next day to get it started again. It just automatically goes for 12 hours. We wish they were actual buttons, ones where you have to hit with intention to turn on and off.If we were to buy another hydroponic unit, we would be looking for something that isn't so easy to goof up.

So I purchased this as an experiment to see if I could get this to create my plugs for the garden in a nice environment and faster than using seed trays with heated mats. The cost of this system when on offer and a couple of seed trays with mats and lights is about the same, although the latter needs some construction.I threw Tomatoes (2 seeds), Sweet Pepper (2 seeds) and Gem Lettuce (4 seeds) at it first. Followed the instructions to get them started and waited.This review is three weeks into the growth.The two tomatoes and two of the gem lettuce were first to pop to the point I removed the dome (which did work and provide the humidity required). At that point I added my OWN nutrients to the water. An organic liquid fertilizer. The Tomatoes and two lettuce thrived, and one pepper woke up and started to thrive too. The other three pods failed. NOW that's not unusual for seeds, they are not all viable. I have now placed cauliflower seeds and another pepper seed, in the failed pods. MY hope is those plugs grow nicely.I could see how you could grow Gem Lettuce in this all year round, but frankly any food worth its nutrition and size would need transplanting out which is what I am doing.Comparing this system to the tray method and to planting straight outdoors, this is superior even with failure. The growth on the tomato plants after three weeks is twice what I get from seed trays, and three times what I got from planting seeds directly outdoors (which I did as comparison only, you really don't want to plant tomatoes this way).I will have to scale up to another couple of machines though, so I'll be looking for the price point I bought this one at which is well below full price to make it work.And that's the point. The Value For Money of these systems is when they are sub $40 ($5 a pod) and you use them to accelerate crops. They really aren't big enough or have enough volume for growing your own food to save money. You will need to transplant. But this gives them a really good start, and because you can buy more cones, you can plant the plugs, cone and all, into the ground and avoid too much shock to the plant.I'm looking forward to seeing if I can try some more ambitious seeds in the future. Exotic seeds are expensive and having a slightly better way of avoiding seed failures is always welcome.@@@update@@@ I decided this was working for my needs and I bought another one!

Good alternative against more expensive original brand name hydroponic grow system. Different water pump system may make you wonder the reason behind its design. None the less the water pump is very quiet and hardly noticed it is running. Led light is very good especially when the light panel can be lowered to a level that it can provide warmth to the germinating seeds. I put a thermometer on its growing deck and it read few degree higher than room temperature. I consider it is a futuristic flower pot with light and water provided and it is money well worth.

Well I let know if it good just received yesterday and already trying to grow some herbs. My lights don't go off after 16 hours so not happy with this part so far. Will update again soon. Finally light go off by itself and wow love this machine would tell friends to get one 😁 ps photo is three weeks of growth

I am so excited this is working! I have never been able to grow anything, even when getting advice from people with a 'green thumb'. It has been so frustrating to me. Then I plunged in and bought this hydroponics system... and I couldn't be happier. Waking every day and seeing how well my little plants are doing, breathing in the fresh plant smell... so happy! This product has done what it said it would do! There's nutrients that come with it, but you do need to get seeds. I want to get more pods too, for when the current plants have finished growing. I followed the instructions and the results have been wonderful! Two plants didn't take, at first, but that happens. I replanted one of them and they've started to sprout now! If you're a 'brown thumb' like me and want a way that works, give this system a try. As long as you follow the instructions, you won't be disappointed!
