About this item

  • DETECTS SMOKE: Sounds a loud 85-decibel alarm when smoke is detected - 3 long beeps with red LED light flashing in time, repeating.
  • HARDWIRED & 2 AA BATTERY BACKUP (Included): Operates on 120V AC wiring (installed in the ceiling) with 2 AA alkaline batteries that provide battery backup coverage during power outages.
  • ENHANCED SENSING TECHNOLOGY: Reduces false alarms often caused by cooking. Comprehensively tested to meet the latest UL standards, meets UL 217 9th Edition & FCC standards.
  • SELF-TESTING ALARM: Internal components ensure alarm is always operating as expected. Not a substitute for a manual push test, perform a button test once per week to verify alarm operation.
  • INTERCONNECT CAPABILITY: When one alarm sounds, they all sound, so you can get out faster. (Different models offer different interconnection options and requirements. See User Guide for more info.)
  • 3 LED NOTIFICATIONS: LED lights indicate alarm status, green = normal operation, amber = operating error, red = smoke detected.
  • TEST & HUSH BUTTON: Makes it easy to test the 5-inch smoke detector and silence false alarms, should they occur.
  • 10-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY: Warranty begins when the alarm is powered on. If that date is unknown, it should be assumed that alarms should be replaced.

Replacement of ten-year-old smoke alarms. I had one chirping as a reminder of it uselessness. Replaced 6 total. You should too! Check their dates.

Very easy to install as a replacement for our old detectors that have yellowed over the years. Very satisfied

Our 7-year-old home was fitted with hardwired units and battery backups made by Kidde. Some of the alarms were a combination of CO and smoke detectors that kept failing after 5 years, even though they are rated for 10 years. Since they were out of our homeowner warranties, I looked for replacements at the usual big-box stores, but they were all more expensive by up to 40%. So it was a no-brainer when I saw the two-pack from Amazon for a very reasonable cost. This was an easy swap from what was originally installed, as the package contained the proper pigtail wiring with the appropriate connector for the new ones. They installed flawlessly and are working well.

We had an electrician replace our old smoke and CO alarms because they are hard wired in a series and we didn't want to mess up the installation. Five alarms took less than a half an hour for the installation. The green indicator light bothers my husband at night, so we put a piece of opaque tape over it. So far, we have not heard any random chirping and we have the peace of mind to know they are installed correctly.
