I've had LG Blu Ray players for years and they are excellent. No question about the quality and performance there. However - I decided to try and save a few bucks by purchasing a "renewed" player. What a joke. It's supposed to be in excellent working condition and look like new. Give me a break. This player came with a sticker plastered on the top with it's return date. There was no HDMI cable. Beyond that - the unit had never even been given a basic going over. The drive unit was defective and the drawer would only open about 1/2" before getting stuck. You can't even put a disc in. If someone had bothered to just plug it in and press the open button they would have seen this is a defective unit. It was NEVER tested at all - just tossed in a box and resold. I can tell you one thing - I will NEVER buy anything described as "renewed" on Amazon again. There is absolutely no way to trust that what you are getting will actually work. It's like buying a used car from some cigar chomping salesman in a loud jacket that assures you the car is "perfect" and never been in an accident or flood. Stay away from used, "renewed" or any other name something might be called. It's a crap shoot not worth taking,

This was to replace my Sony 4K Blu ray player that lasted me a year and cost me $300. My only two complaints with the product is, the size. Why are these so big? Normal Blu ray players are now small. Why is it cause its 4K they are so big? And a design feature of the menu is. Why a bright white screen?

I’ve watched about 4 movies on this Blu-ray player and it did a great job upscaling standard Blu-rays up to 4K resolution and the sound was awesome. I’ve not yet had the chance to play 4K Blu-rays yet but because the standard ones looked so stunning I’m sure they will too. Since my Apple TV is sitting on top of this Blu-ray player I took the Ethernet cable from the Apple TV and plugged it into the LG Blu-ray player to update the software. It updated very easily and quickly. I’m very happy with this player.

There was some initial confusion when the LG UBK80 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Player arrived (wound up at a neighbor’s house), but it works perfectly and plays every disc I’ve placed inside it, 4K UHD Blu-ray or otherwise. What really made me excited about this 4K UHD Blu-ray player after testing multiple discs on it is the fact that it actually played a burned DVD that I’ve had since 2007. This particular burned DVD couldn’t play all the way through its runtime on any PS2, DVD player, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, or any of the multiple laptops that I’ve had over the years; it would stop playing half way through on all of the aforementioned devices, but the LG UBK80 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Player actually read the whole disc and I was able to see the movie in full for the first time since 2007. The movie is actually pretty rare, so it was quite the treat when the LG UBK80 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Player actually played it. Anyway, I’d highly recommend the LG UBK80 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Player to anyone.

I was lead to believe that this was a region free/multiregion player, but it kept stopping the play back when I inserted and tried to play a region B blu-ray disc. Other than that, it was a decent blu-ray player, though the menu seemed lacking....

The only thing is the disc loading tray is very thin plastic and might Break gentle loading of a disc is a must

The machine so far works great, and I am happy with it. Plays 4k nice and has a decent amount of features for an affordable player, it does all I need it to.I would rate this 5/5, but the listing stated it came with everything you needed.No battery, thats fine. No 4k HDMI cable, in fact NO HDMI cable at all?DEFINITELY *NOT* everything I need if i want to have picture coming from it. Which is 100% of the point of this product.Player itself though, great, but make sure you already have "everything you need" if you buy refurbished.
