This is a steel ferrule type mapping nib holder that is meant for Brause Mapping nibs that are not cylindrical. This holder will not accept round or cylindrical nibs like Crowquills or Maru nibs. This is a fact that should be clearly mentioned in the description along with a proper image of the ferrule.Other than that:The holder is plastic and hollow, as holder are. It's thinner than regular nib-holders. That allows for finer control with a mapping nib. It's light and tapered and the length of a regular pen. Not too long.The ferrule can be removed from the barrel completely to be cleaned or inverted to store with the nib facing in. It's also not much work to loosen or tighten with use.The free nib is a Brause 511 mapping nib. Haven't used it long enough so I can only say, it holds a moderate amount of ink and is a fairly soft nib. Can produce very fine to medium lines, but requires control and practice to make smooth lines.That's enough for a nib-holder review, I think.

Der Federhalter ist aus billigem Plastikspritzguss mit hochwertig anmutenden Rörchenkopf. Der Schaft ist relativ kurz und dünn, liegt aber trotzdem gut in der Hand und eignet sich gut zum feinen Zeichnen.Lieferung kam an mit 10 Tagen Verspätung, Artikel nicht so wie beschrieben: die falsche Farbe wurde geliefert (rot statt blau) und die Feder, die laut Produktbeschreibung hätte drin sein müssen, war nirgends zu finden. Was soll das?Aber: Bis dieses Produkt bei mir ankam, hatte ich einen normalen Federhalter für ca 3EUR so umfunktioniert, dass er Brause Federn 511/66EF tragen kann (geht mit einem zurechtgebogenen Metallplättchen, das man in die Federhalteröffnung einschiebt). Die 7 Euro mit Versand für dieses viel zu spät gelieferte, unvollständige und mittelwertige Produkt hätte ich mir echt sparen können.---Ich hatte mir ebenfalls einen ERGONOMISCHEN Halter aus Holz bestellt (auf dieser Produktseite als Variation ebenfalls vorhanden). Leider kann ich keine separate Rezension mit Bewertung dafür verfassen, deswegen werde ich es einfach hier anhängen.Der Federhalter wurde von Amazon pünktlich geliefert und hat durch die ergonomische Form ein sehr sauberes Strichbild, sauberer als einer mit rundem Querschnitt. Liegt sehr angenehm in der Hand und scheint hochwertig. Er ist allerdings nicht mit kleineren Federn (z.B. 511/66EF von Brause) kompatibel. Für diesen Federhalter klare Kaufempfehlung.

It is pretty basic, but that is what I wanted. The plastic holder is light so my hand doesn't get worn out. The nib is pretty good. It holds ink well and draws a nice clean line. No blotting or skipping at all in spite of the fact it has been a while since I used a dip pen. I haven't used it long, and if my opinion changes I will update, but I expect to like it even more as I get used to it.
