I love this little radio. Good clear FM, Noaa weather and rechargable! A good easy to use design that works well. Internal battery holds a good charge. Highly recommended.

I ordered this primarily because it includes the Weather Band which does not work at all. FM works fine. AM is only nominal and valuable only for an emergency. I have other radios which have this feature and they do work. Not this one.

Un aparato un tanto grandote para la mano, pero no me parece un mal aparato, funciona correctamente, eso sí, las instrucciones, nada de nada... Tienes que apañartelas, con ensayo error.

I purchased six of the same model but battered operated then I tried these -NO COMPARISON! The re-chargeable feature is the bomb. They last and last (so much longer than the battery operated), Used for weekly Rotary meetings (on the table) with a blue tooth receiver and wireless mic and headset, the system is totally portable, easy to set up and use, and terrific reception. Don't hesitate - exceptional quality for the money.

Overall, this radio is good.I work as an overnight school janitor, so I like to listen to music while I work, and since I'm generally alone in the building and in areas where cell signal is spotty, having the weather radio is nice.Volume & Sound Quality: It plays decently loud, and I can make it out at the end of one hallway (a good 300 feet away). The volume knob is on top. Sound quality is excellent for a radio at this price point and size.Belt Clip: The belt clip is sturdy. I clip it onto a bracket on my janitor cart and it stays put. Doesn't bounce off or side around.Function: It has AM, FM, shortwave, and all NOAA weather channels. Our NOAA transmitter is down for maintenance, so I wasn't able to test it. Picking up AM and FM inside a concrete and brick building with iron and steel supports is decent and is about what I'd expect. If I hit a dead spot, I just move the cart a few inches and it picks up the signal again. The radio tuning is push button. The radio has a key lock, and when it's engaged, you can't turn it on or off, change settings, or hit a button by accident; you can only adjust volume, which is fine. I'm not able to bump a button and change a setting if I'm getting something off my cart like a broom or spray can. You can dial a station by continually pressing the up or down buttons, or you can seek by pressing and holding the up and down button, and it'll stop seeking when it picks up a station with something on it.Display: The display is a black background with white-ish/blue-ish numbers. It automatically dims after a few seconds of making a selection and you can barely see it after that, if at all (good battery saving measure). If you want to see what station you're on (I keep it on one station all night) all you have to do is tap a button on the front and the display will illuminate.Antenna: It's a telescoping antenna. When not in use, it tucks away inside the radio and doesn't seem like it'll get snagged (unless I sideswipe a doorknob with my janitor cart and the antenna is extended).Battery Life: It's powered by 3 AAA batteries, which I found unusual. Most I've seen take a 9V battery. My old radio (which broke, which is why I bought this one) took a 9V battery and was able to play full blast for about 7.5 to 8 hours per day for about 4 days. This does have a battery level meter on it, and I've got through an 8 hour shift with it playing full blast and haven't had to change the battery yet, although the meter is on its last bar (Overall, I'd say this is a good little radio, and seems suitable for my uses. I'm happy with it.

If you want a cheap pocket weather radio with an Alert feature, this will work. And for under $10, it's hard to complain. It's unfortunate that two different versions of the radio share the same Amazon product page and reviews. The first part of the review refers to the original version that I have and is no longer sold. The tuning for shortwave can take over 4,000 key presses to go from the low end to the high end manually. You can scan for the "next" strong station, but that takes forever too. FM is barely tolerable to tune because the frequency range to go through is not that large.Note: The Amazon product description does not say this radio has a clock. Despite what the instructions say, it does not have a clock. No clock. Now you know. It operates on 3 AAA batteries that cannot be recharged in the radio. The radio is rather loud and sounds fairly good for such a small unit. The display is easy to read and well- lit.The radio seems reasonably sturdy. It doesn't weigh much, so putting it in a backpack for camping makes sense. Just be sure you can recharge the batteries. The new version of the radio is advertised as having a clock, so perhaps it does. It uses some kind of rechargeable battery. It also adds a few station memories; this is a huge benefit for shortwave tuning because you can set the presets across the shortwave spectrum and use them to skip across the bands to find a starting point closer to the station you want than just starting at the beginning. This is a big deal because it took 30 minutes to tune from the bottom to the top of shortwave in the original unit.

My opinions:Weather channel reception: ExcellentAM frequency reception: Good, but susceptible to noise, and somewhat directional.FM frequency reception: Good, but some fading, and somewhat directional.(I suspect a ferrite core antenna in the radio)Shortwave reception: Weak. Barely heard WWV on 5MHz, and a few strong religious stations near that frequency, at night, even with extra antenna extension.Scanning works on all bands. However, since the SW band is extremely large, it takes a long time. No way to enter a specific SW band, and scan within that band. So, if you wanted to listen to, say, WWV at10,000 Mhz, it will take a while to get there. Each of the three bands "remembers" the frequency to which it was last tuned. Good.I did not test the timers or the emergency WX/SOS feature.Removing the batteries makes the radio forget any previously remembered frequencies.Construction seems good. The digital display is easy to read, and goes OFF after a short time. No battery problems yet.Summary:Very good NOAA radio, particularly for that price range! Adequate AM and FM tuning. Do not buy to use for SW listening.
