Works great, installed in an apartment where the water is terrible. No odor no sediment just clear tasty water. Great value.

I work for a Drilling company and this works perfectly to remove smaller particles in the water. If you do not want a back washing system. You should always get your water tested prior to see what filter or system will meet your needs.

it would be nice to have the o ring included with the filter. It is difficult to get the (correct) o rings.

great product - as others said it is a 5 micron not 0.5 micron product but I want the 5 micron - any smaller and would clog in minutes - I am on a public water system that is in rural USA so national TV doesn't broadcast how our water is terrible - high in manganese, iron and other toxic chemicals. It's color has lots of black and brown nasty dirt! worse than flint Michigan water! But heck rural USA doesn't count! When you use blow off to clean the lines between mainline and house I use a white 5 gal bucket and you can't see the bottom. Not sure if the nasty particles make it to water tap but color is clear after using the filter!.Now here is the latest: these filters have little stickers on them that state of California requires I gather stating: "warning: cancer & reproductive harm"! now explain to me how a cotton string filter can cause cancer - actually if it stops all those nasty pollutants in my water it will prevent cancer not cause it - have to love California regulations. Didn't say why they thought it would cause cancer guess everything to them does. But why put these stickers on everyone's filter - I don't live in California. I am ignoring this notice - it is better than no filter and drinking heavy metals that are in the city water system!I will continue to buy these - great filters. I had the Pentek solid filter that went from 25 micron to 1 micron but water doesn't flow well thru them and if you have a lot of participants in your water they clog within a month - so USE this one a lot better and longer lasting and does take out the participants.

Like another reviewer noted, this is incorrectly described as .5 micron when it is actually 5 micron. This is good as I wanted the 5 micron and ordered the .5 micron by mistake last time. The model number is virtually the same except for the “.”.We have well water with high iron and manganese as well as some sediment. We use this as our whole house filter before other treatment equipment and an RO system. Over time we have tried various filter types including the blown poly and string filters like this one. This is one of the few 5 micron 10” string filters that is rated at 20 gpm. The string filters seem to work best for our water and seem to filter better and leave the water tasting better. With the blown poly we still get some bad tastes that the string filters seem to take out. The flow rate seems a bit better with this model filter so I think we will stick to this.

Can't speak about long term results, but as one would expect, the water that comes out is a lot cleaner/clearer than with the previous sediment filter. This is obvious when filling a bath tub with the water which is drawn from a lake. Previous filter was more rigid, with rings cut into the circumference around the filter... I assume this one would work better with the string like property.
