  • pH ORP Tester for Chlorine Pool: ORP value shows how well your chlorines working in your pool. For chlorine pool, there is an inverse relationship between pH and ORP. The higher the pH of the pool, the less active free chlorine will be. Therefore, it is important to keep the pH between 7.2 and 7.8 to ensure optimum chlorine efficiency. In healthy saltwater pool, ORP should read between 650 mV and 750 mV.
  • Regular Salt Check Saltwater Pool Salinity Test Kit: Regular testing and maintenance of your pool’s salt level is important for optimal performance and to ensure a comfortable swimming environment. Check salt and pH level in your saltwater pool every week to ensure they are balanced. Remember to check your salt level especially after heavy rain and heavy use of your pool.
  • Swimming Pool Cleaning and Maintenance Expert: HOICATED is committed to make your pool job easy and effortless. Scum absorbing sponge to make your pool water clean and clear. Comes with pH buffer for calibrating. Out of the box it read 7.0 on distilled water. The only questionable value appeared to be salt concentration. Jumping between tds and salt gave the same ppm. Presumably the salt is for nacl for either salt water pools or aquariums.

Quick, easy and reliable. Works great out of the box, but it needed a little calibrating for the ppm. It works great for hydroponics or beer making.

This worked and it tested at around what my other more expensive ph tester read, but this thing eats batteries like nobody's business. We have to take them out between uses or they die in like 2 days. Not sure why, possibly I got a defective one.

This is nice in that it includes ORP which is useful for alkaline water testing. The TDS readout seems to agree with other tds meters I have. I assume this is larger than the smaller stick type tds meter since it has additional sensors. The display has good visibility including I nice back light. It would be nice if it had Bluetooth connectivity to avoid having to look at it in awkward positions. It does have a hold function which helps remove part of the need to view in awkward positions. Overall a nice tester!

The pH meter needs frequent calibration, approximately every 10 tests. The salt readings are consistently lower than they should be, but they are reliable. I use my Taylor test kit for accurate salt results and then adjust the meter readings accordingly.Pros:Easy to use.Saves on buying test strips.Salt detection can be accurate by subtracting the difference from an accurate test. For example, if the Taylor kit shows 2400 and this meter shows 1800, I add 600 to the meter's reading for future tests.Cons:Requires purchasing a calibration solution, as it needs calibration every two weeks.Takes about 30 seconds to display a final reading. The device may either be malfunctioning or need calibration within two weeks of receiving it.

This meter is easy to use, but difficult to read. The reason it is difficult to read is that it takes a few moments to "settle" into the final reading. When you first immerse it into water, the readings will fluctuate wildly. I takes some practice to know when the answer is "final", and even the final result may change minutely over time. I suppose you get what you pay for, and the price at the time of review, was under $30, so that being the gauge, I can't ding a star. What I can take away a star is for incorrect results. All of the tests agreed with my other testing devices, except for one: the pH test. The pH test was 0.2 off, consistently. I wondered why the vendor included supposedly calibrated powder packs of pH buffer to add to distilled water, for testing the device. I found that incredibly odd, so I tested their buffers. Wouldn't you know it, 0.2 off. Full star off for chicanery. They should have just disabled the pH feature, and made it a five function device, or made the adjustment in software, rather than try to pull the wool over the eyes of the user with so-called calibrated buffer powder packets. Some poor fish are going to be in water slightly too acidic or basic because of this meter. Will it kill them? That very much depends on the fish. Could mine have been a quality issue, and the QC department let it go by accident? Could be. It still gets the full star off for letting it out into the wild.Four Star Multi-function water quality tester with slightly erroneous pH readings.

The tester does need to be calibrated before use but it comes with all the buffers necessary for calibration. Once it's set up though it makes water tests quick and precise.
