I actually love this shuttle - the wood is beautiful and it really flies across the warp. I use it with paper quills for very fine thread for the hems of towels, etc. However, it does NOT come with a rod to hold the quill inside the boat - I made my own using a thin bamboo skewer cut down to just slightly bigger than the length from hole to hole with the tips pared down a bit. Wire also works, but I just like the bamboo better. Experiment with what you have - It has to be flexible enough that you can put the little rod in one hole and slightly bend the other end to slip it into the other hole, but stiff enough to have the rod straighten out again. I also had to sand down the opening for the thread just a little bit as it was slightly rough around the edge. These shuttles are used in Thailand for silk weaving. I'd have given it 5 stars if I hadn't had to do work on it or create a shaft.

How's this sposed to work with no spindle to hold the bobbin??????
