Thanks to the review done by Ficklenerd in 2016, I was able to identify right away the yellow/ black and yellow/ green wires in the green plug. Took me about 2 hours for total install. I installed sound deadening insulation to minimize the noise caused by the locking mechanism. In the warranty sheet however, Pop and Lock says that it will not honor warranty for products bought from Amazon, EBay and other auction sites. So I’m not sure if it’s Amazon who assumes the 1 year warranty for this products as it’s shipped and sold from Amazon.

It is not an easy installation, but it works great!. It works with my doors lock/unlock system. In my case it really worth it.

First of all, let me say that I’m a fairly competent mechanic. The installation instructions for the mechanicals for this lock are very straight forward and the mechanism cleverly designed. That job took less than 30 minutes. As others have noted, the wiring instructions are almost indecipherable. Even watching a few YouTube videos didn’t clear up the confusion. One headache free day when I have a few extra hours I’ll play with it again and try to get it functional. It seems like the company could wire up a pigtail connector for the trunk lock (which is easily accessed and adjacent to the tailgate) that would make the installation plug & play without the need to dismantle the interior and hunt for miscellaneous colored wires that may or may not match the ones listed in the instructions. Thankfully, the manual key lock/unlock works perfectly. If anybody has found a good way to wire this up in a 2008 Ridgeline RTL, please let me know!

Amazon and the manufacturer Pop & Lock considered this particular model not applicable to Honda Ridgeline so it was discounted. Found out that there is an error of about 3-4 mm on the gap of the teeth of the lock. Without the mod, it is impossible to remove the key and still be in lock position. And it will not lock from the actuator either.Minor mod made to make the notch of the key linkage a bit longer by about 4 mm. It wasnt pretty but it worked. So now it locks both by key and by actuator.I am planning to post a video it i have time to You Tube. I submitted the fix to Pop & Lock but havent heard from them. Maybe they dont want to acknowledge the fix or the error.The only issue i have now is that it locks/unlocks with driver door and it sure is much louder than the doors during the actuation. Using the key of course is quite but you cannot get rid of not actuating the tailgate because it is tied to the door. Unless of course you will put a bypass switch.

Exactly what I needed! Now the stuff in my truck bed is more secure when the cover is closed! Color matched perfectly and power feature works great! It looks like it was an original part of my truck.

The power tailgate lock works well. The mechanical installation went well. The wiring wasn't exactly as easy as the instructions made it out to be. The color codes were not correct. Had to get the local alarm guy to wire the lock.Now the key lock... that's another story, still plastic 2 stars at best. The first lock failed and the company wasn't able to send me the parts. Thus the power lock.

I would give this (the combination of the cover and the locking kit (both mechanical and solenoid operated) five stars if it were not for the poor quality control exhibited in the fabrication of the rails for the cover. I had to clean up the pop-rivet area on both sides - something that should have been done at the factory. In the case of my installation, a failure to clean up after drilling the holes for the pop-riveting caused the pop-rivets to not settle down against the aluminum extrusions. Such a simple thing to take care of but which left me feeling quite disappointed - for the price of this item that should not have been my experience.As to operation once installed - great! The instructions for the locking mechanism are pretty sketchy and poorly illustrated but it is a simple installation and it works fine once installed. I would buy this again but hope the company (whom I did contact to complain) does a better job instructing their assemblers and with QA.
