Purchased recently for my trip to Spain. Didn’t fit my hotel door. So assuming this may not be universal outside of the U.S. which does me no good since I travel internationally. Wasn’t able to use it at all. Will be returning.

I was surprised when it actually came down to it’s purpose of use, apartment living, maintenance man went to wrong apartment while I was at work and had a babysitter with my 2 kids… he unlocked the door while this was on and tried to shoulder slam the door open more than twice… the metal did bend slightly but kept the door from being opened. I feel secure having this little extra gadget and would take with me if going to hot.

Took this on a solo vacation for extra peace of mind. It was fairly easy to use ( sometimes a bit tricky to get it in the hole and close the door at the same time) having two different sized holes, one on each end, I think it would fit most doors. My only complaint is that it did bend a bit lengthwise. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it a five star review. I don’t think the lack of thickness in the metal would really impact its ability to keep the door locked, but it was disappointing that it did bend lengthwise so easily. If I was to buy another one, I may look for something made of a stronger steal but this certainly did the trick.

Good strong door lock. We got locked out & could not force our way in. Had to force open a window. My only complaint would be the chain that keeps the 2 pieces together could be stronger. I have 3 of them & 2 chains broke.

It dose lock the door well, however with its technique, door may get jammed if it was large size door, as like my trial at hotel; it would get uptight to install & remove or uninstall. I gotten worried to get stuck inside my room rather than being extra secure, preferred not to use it at time. May it work well within certain door size !

Purchased this for an out of town get away on an Airbnb, I read a few reviews on other products and I wasn't sure if it would work as some said it didn't work on hotel doors. So I then found this one, that was more heavy duty and wider so it will fit all industrial door frames *** note it did not work on my regular door frame inside a house room.

Editing my review to lower form 5 stars to 3 stars. It works great, but unfortunately a lot of hotel locks don't have deadbolts that work with this type of safety feature. Have tried to use in the US and the Caribbean and would say that only half of the hotel doors allow it to work.Original review: Tried it on my home door that has a keypad style lock. It worked when someone put in the code and the lock didn’t completely open nor would the door. When I removed the portable lock, the automated lock on the door then opened. Perfect for what I need it for.
