Square opening in latch is an odd size and doesn’t fit common brand doorknobs

I got four keyed alike Amazon door knob/deadbolts (they were great btw) but my weird door has a knob 5 inches inside. I was bummed that I’d need to buy one separately keyed lock for that one. This dropped in perfectly and saved me from that. I didn’t even read the directions. I’m so happy with this. Not a lot of money to save me a lot of frustration.

Oddball size that Lowes didn't stock however Amazon had the size I needed. Installed in no time and was satisfied with the results.

We have a 55 year old door with a setback of 5 inches. We were going to change the lock because the latch of the original knob did not work. The door blew open constantly when it was "locked." The new lock won't work (came with a short setback, a lever handle that only turns 45 degrees, blah, blah, blah.)We needed to try to fix the old door knob. I ordered this 5" deadlatch, slid it in, screwed the knob together and BAM! The deadlatch works! The door will not blow open. It took less than five minutes after opening the package to fix the door. I'm thrilled.

I needed a new back set, and our handyman was going to replace it for me. When I saw this was available, I got impatient and ordered this. I mismeasured, but thought it was ok that these were adjustable. This NOT adjustable and it's a bit too long. When he showed up to help me, he pointed out that it was too long. Not the fault of the company or the product, but my error. Without being able to put it in the door I ran the locking shaft through it and turned it back and forth a few times. The mechanism works fine. It would work if It was a newer door and I hadn't been impatient. So CAUTION: measure well, before ordering.
