This easy to install bar is an excellent addition to a patio door. It was easy to cut for propper fitting. (I cut it a bit tight the first time, but trimming was a breeze). I purchased this for added safety and the sturdy construction delivered.

I have bought several of these security bars. Super easy to install, very sturdy and attractive. No need to bend over to secure the door as these can be easily mounted at any height. Bonus points for sleek storage when not in use. Best security bar ever!!

I have never liked the lock on sliding glass doors. So when we installed the new sliding glass door to our patio I searched for some sort of bar that would replace the dowel that I had been throwing in the bottom of our previous door. After looking at several offerings I decided this would be the easiest option. The bar installed with a little effort and definitely stops the door from being opened when it's in place. My only complaint is that occasionally the bracket isn't strong enough to guide the bar onto the catch on the door, so you miss the catch and have to fiddle with it to get it in. Make no mistake this is not A dealbreaker, and cost maybe a half of a second when it occurs. This bar is easily installed with just a few tools and really does make the door more secure. Plus it looks a lot better then a dowel or 2 x 2 thrown in the bottom of the door and this way you don't have to bend over to pick that up

Works great. Pretty easy to install if you are moderately handy with tools. I'd consider myself very capable with tools, and install took me about 30 mins. I was very careful though when I was installing this product, first to make sure I had the right height and second that I did not crack the glass while installing the screws/door part in the glass door. Cutting the bar down to size would probably be the only thing I would recommend you consider when getting ready to install this product. I used a Dremel tool, you would at least need a small hacksaw, but the aluminum cuts pretty easily. Other than that, a power drill and some good drill bits made this pretty easy. Good quality parts, the plastic parts seem pretty sturdy so far.

This was easy to install. I just clipped off a little of the bar because it was too long for my door. This is a thin lightweight product but when the door is closed I don't see anyway that a person could pull hard enough to bend it. I feel safer having it. I mounted mine in the middle of the door and it has a clip that you screw in the top of the door to hold it out of the way when you want the door unlocked. It also has a piece that mounts to the sliding door to hold the other end of the bar. They send you a little black rubber piece that goes on the cut end so that it's not sharp after you size it. Just remember if you're mounting it to raise up when not in use that you leave enough room at the top for it to fit in the door slot. I'd buy it again if I needed to. Also, when you fold it up into the door nobody can even notices that it's there.

Works just as it should. I wish something like this had come with the sliding doors when I first bought them in a different time, in a different America. It would have saved me from a lot of grief and pain that likely never go away. The bar comes with a clever, if simple locking gizmo. Nevertheless, I augment it by sliding a small flat bolt (a large nail will also do) that goes all the way to the glass pane. This is to prevent the thief from sliding a wire between the gizmo and the two halves of the sliding door to get to, and twist, the gizmo to try to push/pull it out. The keyed locks that came with the sliding doors are a farce and can be/are easily picked. If your key to the sliding doors is of the flat variety, you definitely need this bar.Considering our fast deteriorating reality, the number of attempted break-ins will only increase. Vis a vis the police's indifference and incompetence (from experience), the manufacturers of windows and glass sliding doors would do well to focus on the anti-theft measures tested by the best among the professional thieving community. No? (rhetorical)

This security bar takes the old broomstick security device and raises it 2 IQ points. Total no-brainer security bar for sliding glass doors. The vertical hinged bar swings down horizontally into the bracket on the opposite side to brace against intruders trying to slide the door open from the outside. 100% secure. It fit perfectly in my Andersen slider.2 screws go into the door jamb to secure the hinged bar part. 2 screws go into the sliding panel part to secure the plastic bracket. There really isn't any pressure or weight on the plastic bracket part. The hinged bar part is 3/4 inch wide. The plastic bracket is 1-inch in width. The aluminum bar cuts easily with any cheapo hacksaw. Even a $5 mini-hacksaw will cut through it. Just brace the bar against a chair with your foot and saw away. Really no big deal. A little rubber end cap finishes the raw edge after cutting. The longest part of installation is the measuring. The OCD side of me measured 8 times before any drilling or cutting. You DO NOT want to screw up with your new $2000 sliding door. MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE. And then measure one last time after a dry fit ;)
