This was a Christmas gift for my grandma. She’s extremely hard of hearing, so it’s important that the phone had a loud ringer setting and a high volume setting for the phone itself. This phone Checked both of those boxes as well as being a sturdy, high quality, well made item.

We got this phone for our coffee shop that we are opening soon and it goes great with the theme, however the ring sound is awful. It's a high pitched electronic sound, it should have more of an old school bell ringing sound. Everything else about it is great.

The Pyle Vintage PRT46 is a bad design. The Pulse/Tone Switch is on the back. The ringer control is on the back. Both mean that the phone has to be taken off the wall to adjust. The single wall mount may be meant to make adjustment easier, but the mount is flimsy for someone who actually intends to use the little desk top to take notes and the recipe-style draw to hold anything. And, anyone replacing a wall phone with and ATT mount will find that the phone doesn't have a back cavity large enough to cover the standard ATT two-pronged wall fixture. I had to cannibalize the frame from the much superior old, oak wood TecTel County Line phone, sand it , stain it darker, and finish it (see photo one about 3 hours into that effort). I think attached it to the back of the Pyle PRT46, drilled 4 mounting holes and installed brass grommets to protect the face of the Pyle phone as shown in photo 2. That made a cavity 3/4" deep that permits connections, clears ATT wall mounting prongs behind it, and ensures that the phone will not fall off the wall, like it did on my first three attempts, even after routing out the tiny mounting hardware keyhole to a standard size. The receiver has a poor quality mike that returns a tinny sound to the ear piece and carries over into cell phone coverage. The receiver cord has a standard jack only on one side, making it very difficult to replace. You would have to take the receiver apart and rewire it to put a longer jack insides. The ringer is electronic and doesn't even ring like a bell. Why put bells on the front purely for decoration? Photo 3 shows the fully modified phone mounted on the wall. This is about 6 hours into the rebuild. The Pyle phone cost $158. It's low quality construction and design errors make it worth about $58. It is not good value. I'm busy looking for a TecTel County Line tech who can help me restore the microphone circuit in the old phone. Then, I'm going to tear the Pyle phone apart and restore the TecTel Country Line phone, which has functional ringer bells, a volume control lever outside, standard receiver jacks on both ends, and a mounting system that can stand the test of time and people hanging on it. Don't buy the Pule Vintage PRT46. It is a design and functional dog!
