Arrived as promised. Haven't had a chance to try them out but I'm sure they will do what I need them to do

This timer seems to work well. I haven't sat out with a stopwatch for the full cycle, but it looks like it's putting out the expected duration of water. The programming is simple, though requires you to set it at the time you want it to run...like, if you want it to run at 5am every day, you need to be out there at 5am the first day to click it to the 24 hour notch. I probably prefer it this way, rather than a digital one where you need to set the time on the timer, then click through a million options on a tiny screen to program it. A smart timer that hooks up to an app would be even better, but also way more expensive than this $20 timer.Note that it does require batteries (not included) even though it's called a mechanical timer.

I like this timer, really simple, really straightforward. Seems like it will hold up. One small complaint is that it doesn't seem to work well under low pressure. I have it on a drip tank to feed some plants when I'm gone. I like to turn off my water main when I leave the house so I use a tank. The water pressure out the tank becomes a trickle out of the timer.

must have for your garden or lawn, just get one. it makes planting a new section of grass, a new tree or a garden so much easier when the water is timed. new grass really should be watered a couple times a day when you first get it growing and it's hard to be consistent. we have several of these and the simple dials are better than the complex program ones. no leaks, simple and functional.

This RainPoint water timer is a great garden accessory. It's simple and easy to use, yet quite functional. Despite a couple of caveats, I really like it.It has two modes of operation: timed and manual (what I'll call ad hoc) watering. In the timed mode, it can be set to activate on a set schedule: say every hour (or 2, 3, 4,...), or every 12 hours, 24 hours (daily), 48 hours (every other day), even weekly. Part of its simplicity is that it doesn't contain a clock (nor a display), so there's no user frustration in fiddling with arcane buttons and sequences to set the time of day and day of week. This means that if you want it to activate daily at (say) 6am for a morning watering, you have to go out to the faucet at 6am to 'program' it. That's done by rotating the How Often knob to 24 hours, and rotating the How Long knob to the desired duration (between 1 and 120 minutes). That's it. The timer will then turn on the valve every morning at 6am for the duration selected. Easy peasy. If you want it to activate every other day, you set the How Often dial to 48 hr. For every 3rd day, choose 72 hr. In the event that there's rain in the forecast and you temporarily want to defer watering, just rotate the How Long knob to OFF. The internal timer will keep running, thus retaining the original start time (6am in my example) but the valve won't come on.. Then when sunshine returns and you want to resume your watering schedule, set the How Long knob back to the desired duration. In some applications, you don't want to do watering on a set schedule. Instead, you want to water the lawn, the flower garden, the vegetable plot, etc on an ad hoc basis, whenever the Gardener decides things are looking a little dry. This RainPoint timer excels in this scenario. You position your sprinkler as required. Then, with the How Often knob set to the ONE position, just turn the How Long knob to the desired duration, perhaps 20 minutes. Presto - the valve opens for 20 minutes, then shuts off. Sometime later, Gardener moves the sprinkler to another location in the yard. Turn the How Long knob to desired duration for that spot, say 10 minutes. Valve opens, then closes 10 minutes later. Repeat as needed. If you're using the timer in either scenario (timed or ad hoc), there is a manual mode as well. Push the button to activate the valve. Then when done watering, washing the car, hosing off the patio, or whatever, press the button again and the water shuts off. The button can also be pressed to turn it off in the middle of a timed operation, perhaps to short-cycle a daily watering schedule. This timer appears to be much less capable than fancy (and more expensive) timer products with big displays and lots of buttons and programming options. But I find it strikes the right balance between simplicity and functionality. There are some caveats.• The manual is a bit arcane. I took me a while to figure out how to master the 2 knobs and the button.• Construction is all-plastic. I'd much prefer to see a brass fitting on the inlet. It's all too easy to get these garden accessories cross-threaded on the metal faucet. If/when that happens, the plastic threads can get damaged. That said, the RainPoint's plastic inlet coupler is pretty beefy. With care (and some teflon tape on the faucet threads), it should last a long time.• The front-panel User Interface is less than ideal. The body of the valve is dark grey plastic, with light grey markings around the knobs. The UI would be more legible if the lettering were higher-contrast white. Worse, the knobs are black. The all-important pointers on the knobs are nigh invisible against the body. If you get one of these RainPoint timers, the first thing you should do is put a little daub of white paint on the pointers to make it easier to operate. As a simple yet flexible timer for lawn or garden, this product is highly recommended.

I really am a fan of this watering timer. It is so well built and sturdy! The dials and large, clear symbols make it extremely easy to get it set up even if you don't have directions to follow.Of course I always check the instructions but this one is so straightforward you can figure it out pretty easily.I like that even in bright sunlight you can see the settings and no leaks!!!It works exactly as expected with no glitches. For just under $24 currently I think it's a decent value and so I would recommend it.

We haven't used it for a long time. The knobs work well and seem to work for the intended duration. No screens or other technology that could break.

Update: I'm adding a photo of how I have used my timer. It's not terribly conventional at the moment, and if I end up liking where it is and what it does I will likely hang it in a more permanent fashion or put a hook on the wall to hold it. I have a single spigot that I want this timer to attach to, but I can't have the timer taking up the only spigot. And unfortunately with the splitter, this is just bulky enough that it interferes with the splitter. Plus even if it didn't interfere, I wouldn't want it getting constantly wet from the use of the other spigot on the splitter. So my solution has been to attach a 5 ft metal hose and put it off to the side. That's where hanging it will come into play if I end up liking this setup. That being said, the only thing about this timer is that it doesn't appear that you can pick a time. If you want it to go off at 6:00 in the morning, then you need to actually set it at 6:00 in the morning so that it knows every 24 hours or every 48 hours it needs to turn on and water for you. Fortunately for me this is not terribly important. It just needs to come on for a few minutes and put water into my pig's water bowl in his pen. So, as long as your watering needs are pretty basic and not super fancy, this is a great setup for the price. It does have manual override and it makes a nice satisfying click when it comes on. There's even a little green light to confirm that the click is activating and the manual override is working. So if you need something elaborate and fancy, this is definitely not for you. But if you just need something basic, this is a fabulous little unit. It solved a problem for me that I didn't know I had. And during the hot summer months, it will be great to know that my pig will start his morning with a big bowl of freshwater everyday. And if you've ever had a pet pig, you know how much they love to flip their bowls and root around in the mud and make a mess. So, the bonus with this timer is that if he starts doing that too much, I will set it to water twice a day, every 12 hours.Original review : I ordered this because I wanted a small footprint. I have two other name brand digital timers that I use for my major flower beds and my raised bed tomato garden.Currently this little gizmo is five stars. It appears that all the parts are intact and it's not broken. It is all plastic. I don't see any metal on this unit. I was concerned that when I hooked it up with the plastic parts it might leak. So far it hasn't leaked. It has performed perfectly thus far. Until I can actually use it for a few weeks, it will be hard to tell exactly how sturdy it is. The directions seem pretty straightforward but also not really necessary. But from what I can see, you cannot set it for a specific time. If you are setting a stuff at 6:00 p.m. at night and you want it to start watering at 4:00 a.m., I do not see a way that you can do this. You pretty much have to set it up for whatever interval at whatever time. So in my edit above I explained how I did that. The digital ones are far more complex than this, and I figured those out without any directions. Again if anything is weird, odd or just doesn't work well, I will come back and update my review.

It's light weight. It is powered by 2 AAA batteries. It doesn't come with a screen, which I love. It has 2 dials: how often and how long. What else do you need? Right? Why make things complicated with having only one knob. I think this is very practical. Although, I have to admit, that I do have settings on my other watering timer that specifies at certain times of the day to water the plants. The latter is to make sure it waters the plants to prevent the soil from drying out during sun exposure. Anyway, back to this item. Being very simple does have its fall backs like I previously mentioned. I plan to use this on my lawn sprinkler. The usual spring loaded timer I have on it is driving me crazy. I have gone through a lot of these timers. Only time will tell if it will last. But I am giving this item a fair review because I like how simple the controls.
