What a great purchase! This kit was better than we expected. Nice wood pieces, hardware and clear instructions. The four corner wood pieces are the stand out here: the two sides, bottom and top slide into the corner piece channels and then are screwed into predrilled holes. Making sure all corners and edges were flush, made screwing the front tapa and the back piece into place easy.Sanding the pieces with the provided finer sanding block and coarser sand paper and then screwing it together took two hours. We played with it for a few hours when it was put together, loved the sound, and put several coats of water based semi-gloss polyurethane throughout today.We are very pleased with the quality of this kit. The machining of the wood pieces was perfect in our kit and all hardware was present. There was one each of the countersunk and round headed screws leftover. This kit is well worth the little time and effort it took to produce this beautiful cajon. Well done Sela!

Excellent sound, I am amazed with the sound I get out of this thing. I bought brushes for it as well. It is super fun to play and has very good bass sound along with great snare and clap corners (an exclusive for Sela Cajons). I did a lot of research and I am glad I chose this cajon. Went together in about 90min because I took my time.Fun to build and professional sound!

High grade material, fine cut ,and complete.after assembly, you will have a high quality sound cajon ,it has professional sound with amazing adjustable snare sound(you can have on and off ,also you can add an extr snare to your cajon,as I did and make the snare sound double).

This SE 037 CaSela Cajon Quick Assembly Kit by Sela is a beautifully made kit and in less than an hour, you will be playing your cajon.A cajon box drum is a wooden, percussion instrument that you sit on while playing. You play it with your hands and fingers, as well as brushes, mallets, sticks, etc. Full disclosure - no one in my home has ever played a cajon before, although we have a standard drum set and have seen the cajon played live and in videos. There are plenty of tutorial type videos on the internet, though, and we are having so much fun with it.You get a large, fairly heavy box that contains pre-cut pieces of wood, the necessary screws and drill bit, the snare, coarse sandpaper, a fine sanding block, 4 rubber feet, and a detailed assembly guide. An electric drill would be helpful but you can do it without a drill as long as you have a screwdriver that accepts the included drill bit. Assembly took us less than an hour, not including applying a finish to the wood.First, you sand all of the wooden pieces very smooth. This doesn't take much time as they are already quite smooth. Then assemble the pieces as directed in the assembly guide, making sure that you follow the directions carefully. We found all of the pieces to be cut with precision and they fit together perfectly. After it is all assembled, you can apply a finish although you can also leave the wood unfinished, if you wish. We liked the appearance of the wood so we just applied a few coats of paste wax for a beautiful, soft finish.This cajon can produce so many different sounds! The snare head can be muted a bit by installing the included wedge of foam or even by inserting a small cushion into the cajon, as you can do with a traditional drum. You can even purchase and install additional snare heads for a stronger snare sound. There are clap corners that you can adjust for your perfect sound. It's very sturdy and comfortable to sit on when playing, although you can add a pad on top. Note that no brushes or other playing implements are included.I went to the Sela website to order an additional snare head but they are only available through authorized retailers. Fortunately, there is one near me. Hopefully, Amazon will be offering accessories soon like brushes and carry bags and pads.I had a wonderful time assembling this cajon with my 16-year-old, budding musician. It was an exceptional experience for him to actually build an instrument that he is playing. The cajon itself is quite beautiful and the sound is marvelous. It allows us to jam with percussion in a smaller space because it's so compact. If that appeals to you, you won't be disappointed with this kit.

Love the cajon! It looks good, sounds great, and was easy to build - but take your time, watch the videos, and read the instructions carefully.The kit comes with everything you need, apart from an electric screwdriver and something to finish/protect the wood - I used 2 coats of Fiddes hard wax oil which I had lurking in the garage - which I applied before construction began.Yes, there are cheaper kits available, but this requires no gluing and the rounded corners are more comfortable. Also, if you damage the front playing surface or just want a different look you can buy different panels made from different woods.

This was fairly easy to assemble. The kit included everything, event the drill bit I needed for the hex screws and the sand paper. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow with both pictures and text. It also included some handy tips (minus the one I discovered below). The instructions are available to download in additional languages online.All I needed was a hammer and an electric driver. It also includes a disposable spacer to make it easy to line up the parts that will hold the snare.The one thing I discovered during the assembly process was that you should not make the screws in the side panels and rounded corners tight until after the back has been added. It wasn't square after tightening them, so to get the back to line up right, I had to back off a little on those screws, temporarily tape the back in place with painter's tape. After I added a few screws to the back, then I was able to tighten the inside screws down again. This way, it was aligned perfectly on the front and back and it was square.I finished mine with paste finishing wax. I wanted something that looked natural while giving it protection.I'm very happy with the outcome! Has a nice sound and includes instructions for adjusting the slap corners and snare. Some of the best instructions I have ever followed. Quality work!

This is a great kit that will, in the end, give you a high quality hand drum (cajon).This is a project that I helped a child make - it's really that simple. And the result is awesome and the child felt really proud of what they had made. Hard to rate that feeling - at LEAST 5 stars!

Bon produit, finitions tres correctes. Prevoir le temps pour le poncage (meme si la finition de base pourrait deja satisfaire les moins exigeants) et le temps pour vernir (vernis pas inclus, disponible en accessoire separe).
