Step 1

Step 1: Flatness Measurement

Use a straight edge to measure the flatness of the stone. Lay the straight edge down to the surface and try sliding a piece of paper between the straight edge and stone to check the possible gap to determine whether it needs flattening.

Step 2: Soak and mark the stone

Soak the stone

Soak the stone for around 10 minutes until bubbles disappear. Then use a pencil to mark lines on your stone.

Seems to wear about the same as most diamond sharpening plates in that is loses some rough grit initially, but retains grit well enough. Grit consistency seems good. The large 4 x 10" size is great. Flatness seems good. The non-slip base is also very good. I wish this came with a plastic box/stand like their 320/1200 grit combination sharpening plate comes with.

This is by far the best lapping plate I have ever used. Large size and quick removal of material. As a professional cabinet maker sharp tools are essential and this keeps sharping stones in tip top condition. I highly recommend.

Made of high-quality heavy material and is large enough to handle any job. I use mostly diamond stones for sharpening so don't need to flatten them, but plan to use this for flattening steel plates and deburring. The table on my Bridgeport must be flat and free of burrs when milling.

Works great as a lapping stone and will likely use this as a thinning stone as well.

I purchased this because it was way less expensive than the others. It does do the job however it's not perfectly flat but I dare say it's flat enough. I still purchase this other than any of the other more expensive large flattening plates. Not as good as Atoma

I love this stone. I use it for flattening my Shapton ceramic stones and it works great it is actually flatter than the Shapton flattening stone that is 300 bucks. I would recommend anyone to buy this one rather than the Shapton and save money

Us la recomano.

This is a wonderful lapping stone to flatten waterstones at a more reasonable price than other real flat plate diamond lapping plates. It is quite heavy with a rubber base so it stays in place if you do your flattening on a table top. If you flatten under a faucet in a sink holding on to the plate and the stone, don't worry about tiring out because it does its job relatively quickly. The 220 grit seems like a great compromise to quickly flatten stones under 1000 grit, still leave stones above 1000 grit with a smooth surface.

I bought the Sharpal Diamond lapping Plate over the DMT diamonds lapping plate because the following reasons:1) the quality of the product is very impressive. Heavy iron plate ( chromed ) and rubber feet.2) the diamond particles small sharp and the distribution across the plate is very uniform. See the picture ( zoom in ) from their add.3) flattened my hardest ceramic stone in 3 minutes. Please see the attached photos . I thought the wet sand paper would have a hard time to remove it. However I have not tried yet . I will report later if I get a chance to do it.4. The price of this is the best deal you can buy 2 of this diamond plates for one DMT plate.5. You can send this product as Christmas or Birthday presents. All and all it is my best investment and I would buy the second one in a Heart beat.Kudos to you SHARPAL 👍
