Fantastic can opener! Sharp, easy to turn and use. I'm developing arthritis and manipulating small or hard to use items is becoming a big problem. The can opener doesn't disappoint! It is a bit larger than a standard manual can opener but I had no problems at all using it. It has a good handle grip, large oval grip knob & turns smoothly. I didn't spill any liquid at all!! Well worth the price.

Did not create a protected edge , which is why I wanted it for.

This can opener at first glance looks more complicated than it is. The can opener is super easy to use, it can smoothly open a can in a matter of seconds. It has a magnet that makes pulling out the lid top easy. The can opener is easy to clean and a good deal price wise.

Review for Smooth Edge Safety Cutter Manual Can Opener with Commercial Comfortable Crank HandleI really like this can opener. I like the crank handle instead of the turn lever. This has a good heavy weight to it that means it is really made from metal, not all plastic. The handles are well padded. This is the best home can opener that I have every used.Attaching it to the can was easy. The gears are lined up very well, and the cutter is sharp. The lever handle allowed for an easy time opening the can, like those big commercial can openers that are attached to the sides of the tables in professional kitchens. The can stayed attached all the way around and after it was totally open.Yes, it's expensive. But how many times do you think you will have to buy one after this? This should last me for the rest of my life!

There are flaws with this opener. Even before we used it, my husband took one look at it and thought it was a bad design. They have made the handle so huge that most cans are too short and need to be opened on the very edge of the pull out cutting board (or in mid-air), and it's just not that stable. The cans keep wobbling. I'm using it at home, but I don't believe it would be good for a commercial environment with taller cans either because there is just too much extra cranking to do with this specific opener -- the handle is like pedaling on a bicycle. Busy restaurants would not have time for this nonsense. It also seems flimsy to me. I'm just a short woman and not in the least strong, but I can squeeze the handles too much if I'm not careful. Again, bad for commercial use. On the positive side, it does cut well and the magnet is strong. It is easier on the fingers for anyone with arthritis, but not on the shoulder. Overall, I do not like it and I doubt it will last for that long. Obviously, I do not recommend this can opener.

This is a massive improvement compared to the traditional style of can openers, and I will certainly not be going back. Instead of cutting through the lid, this model separates the seam along the edge. This means the lid doesn't fall into the can once the cut is complete, and you're left with a smooth, clean edge that won't cut you if you aren't careful. The caveat is that the wheel is much smaller, and as such requires a bit more cranking to get it all the way round the can. That being said, it's much easier to turn, so overall effort is probably similar. Either way, the end result is worth it in my book.

Often times I've found that you need to spend a bit more an invest in good tools and products. This can opener is no exception to that. Well built, solid and with a heavy duty handle I expect to gets years of good use out of this basic, but essential kitchen tool.

Thank you so much for this heavy duty can opener! Wow, what a difference. We have some cans, such as the pictured eel, that are so hard to open. I think they must be made from WWII battleships, if I had to open two in the same day, I don't think I could manage it! :) So firstly, this heavy-duty opener pieced the thick 'tin' & clamped on to it easily. Secondly, using the crank/handle, really had little resistance opening it. Then thirdly, the can opener stayed connected, neatly around the corners and around the whole can without disconnecting once. Something the normal one I have, could not do either because of the shape and thickness of the metal in these 'tins'. So overall, excellent, this larger, stronger can opener is a great improvement! Thanks again.
