I like this sliding latch because it’s very attractive and kind of chunky. Looks really good on my screen door.

My wife has been asking me to transform our garage entry door to a "Dutch Door'. I used this nice heavy barrel bolt to secure both halves of the door. She got her wish.

I just wanted a bolt lock to use on an inside door of the chicken coop, something that wouldn’t rust with time. This bolt lock has a quality feel of days long ago, a technology I thought was lost with time. No light flimsy fake brass plating but a solid, smooth working piece of hardware. Well done.

I installed this near the bottom of my door to help hold back any hurricane force winds that we may have. It has a nice, long post, and can be used without the included strike guide, if desired. (I just drilled a hole, as I needed it to be flush with the door. ) It is notched, so can be used vertically and will not slip down when unlatched. It is sturdy, and attractive. As another reviewer mentioned, the screws it came with are far too short for the purpose, so I just grabbed a few longer ones from my tool box. Very happy with this purchase!Female/Aged 66

This is a very fine looking piece of hardware. I specifically looked for a brass piece because it will be used on a cellar door and will be subjected to frequent dampness. The previous zinc-coated barrel bolt rusted away. My only quibble is the screws that came with this item are NOT brass, even though the body of the item seems to be. At least, the body is not magnetic. The screws on the other hand, though they LOOK like brass, ARE magnetic. I therefore used stainless steel screws, since the color mismatch is unimportant in the location where I mounted it. Just bear in mind that you may have to come up with your own brass screws if you need real brass ones.

This is a solid slide lock for door security. It appears to be of high quality and is well finished. One thing to note, unlike many brass objects that have a "gold" finish, this lock clearly has more copper in the alloy, as it has a redder color. I find it attractive, others may not. It is, overall, a fine example of quality design and manufacture.Although I gave it a "5" on durability, that is only a guess. I simply haven't had it long enough to know how it will hold up. Because it seems very strong, I assume that it will also be durable.

Mimicking the other good reviews. This is a quality well made latch with substantial weight. I'm using it on the front double doors of the house to add a bit of security to the existing door knob lock. The screws that come with it are rather scrawny but would work in most instances. Since I'm using the latch for front door security, I purchased some #9 x 1" antique brass screws at the local big box hardware store. I had to drill out the holes in the latch just a bit to use the #9 screws, but it was worth it (I know, quite a bit of work just to use this latch). Looks great!
