I’ve been using buckets to ferment wine for 30 years and counting. I love all of my buckets and will continue to use them, but sometimes I would like a bigger fermenter for larger batches of wine. So I finally decided to get a Speidel 60L fermenter. This fermenter is actually very good, the locking ring is a pain sometimes as it always wants to slide off the lid. This is fixable as others have shown and I’ll soon modify the lid to fix this problem. The seal always wants to fall out of the lid so you have to be careful when you put the lid on but it isn’t that big a deal overall, just annoying slightly. The large opening on this round fermenter is amazing when putting the ingredients into the fermenter. This really is a good fermenter and the only reason I’m hesitant about how to rate it is that this is not the fermenter I ordered. I ordered the rectangle fermenter as I didn’t want to mess with the lid and locking ring and the rectangle fermenter has a screw on lid. That being said and to be fair this is a great fermenter so despite being unhappy about not getting what I ordered and to much of a hassle to return it , I decided to use it and see what happened. Since it really is a great fermenter I gave it 5 stars.

Bought two of these, one works great, the other never had the drain hole cut out. Tried to cut the hole my self since I waited to long to use it and could not return it. What I didn’t realize is, you can’t cut it straight enough to make the drain cap seal. This item is completely unusable now. If you get one - don’t attempt to fix it yourself - make them send you a new one!

Works well but the threaded drain needed some trimming and flattening on the face to keep the spigot from leaking.

Consider buying a pump too or plan accordingly. You can’t lift this thing when it’s over half full. With its big mouth it’s easy to clean and dry.

Really like the size, it has good gaskets on the lid and drain spout. Large opening makes it easy to clean. Came with large airlock. Handles are sturdy, although when full it's very heavy and is a 2 person job to carry.
