Typically, a very loud whistle would seem to many to just be an annoying plaything. To a fly fisherman who wades the rivers and streams in some rather remote places, this whistle could actually save your life. I'll explain.If I slip and fall into the water and get swept downstream by a strong current, chances are I could get into serious trouble very quickly. If I'm lucky (and don't panic) I can allow my waders to retain some air and keep me afloat. If I'm moving in current to swift for me to negotiate to the shore, I can start blowing this whistle in 3 short bursts, the universal signal for outdoorsman that someone is in danger and needs help NOW!I'll be keeping one of these for myself and donating another to an older vet who just experienced the swim described above. Fortunately for him, he did everything right and made it out safely. Only thing missing, was a VERY LOUD WHISTLE!Time to fix that!
