I've used this with the longer skinnier propane cylinders as well as the shorter stouter ones, and it works well for both. The balance is good via the padded handle. The built in ignition trigger is easy to operate, and the valve dial is straightforward.This is the first time I've used one. The results weren't quite as fast as I was expecting. This thing can put out a lot of gas, but it takes some practice to burn the weeds without wasting too much fuel. I haven't tried MAP gas yet, but maybe it would alleviate some of the shortcomings. There isn't a "burst" trigger - all control is done by the dial.This isn't as fast as my string trimmer for cleaning weeds on my driveway, but it can get down to the roots better. Part of me is wishing I had gotten a slightly nicer model, but this one is a good basic start if you only need one occasionally. The ignitor works well, but try not to get dirt in the nozzle as it can block the electrode.

When I mentioned I was getting this flame torch there was just a sigh of "another gadget".UNTIL IT ARRIVED!!!I can't get it out of my husband's hands. He hooked it up to a small propane tank that attached easily and went at it like a badger. Now this is his favorite gardening "toy".

We didn't have any issues with the starter or firing this up any of the times we've used it. While I mainly got this for winter use, we've used it as a torch a couple of times. It feels sturdy when using and there was no assembly at all.The real test will be this winter!

I got this to tackle the plants growing in the cracks of my brick driveway. It performed great - it's easy to use and hold. There is a handle of sorts of a soft rubber cover in the curve of this burner and it serves to make it easy to hold.I like it a lot! Simple and light to handle-Something else: not the fault of this burner; it doesn't work well on dandelions. They are so tenacious, they come back even after being torched!

The design of this is great, and it's comfortable and easy to use. Unlike some other reviewers, my starter works flawlessly every time. It's so simple to use and operate. I used it to light a yard waste fire and charcoal, and it worked great for that. I used the blue propane cylinders for testing.For weeds though, it was very ineffective. It only singed the weeds, and they came back full force within days. If I kept on them to burn them enough to remove them completely, it would take about 30 seconds per weed, and they still came back since it does not kill the roots. Keep in mind these were very green weeds, dry weeds might work ok. I chemical weed killer is MUCH more effective.It's summertime here, so I can't test this on real ice, but I did try and melt a couple ice cubes. It took about 45 seconds to melt both ice cubes, so I highly doubt this would be effective on more than the thinnest layer of ice. Need to melt an inch of thick freezing rain that has solidified? Forget it. Maybe it might be effective with salt to soften it first. I'll try it come winter and update this review.

I made the mistake of buying an electric weed burner. Worked....not. I bought this and this is a well made, nothing to assemble unit that does the job. I've seen complaints about the starter but one push and the flame is strong, so very happy with this purchase

Self ignition does not always work. But over all does what I need . I'm 6'2 needed something thst I wouldn't need to bend and this is long enough. I recommend. Would buy again if needed
