This sash lock does fit dimensionally where the old one fit. All smooth surfaces, easy gliding, all good. But this is not made of metal, like the one it replaced: looks like plastic, but hopefully this is reinforced resin. Only after using it for a while will I be able to tell how durable this may be, and I expect years of good use form this. For now, I can only rate it for fit and initial use, and it seems very good.The product page states that the manufacturer will replace this item at any time if there is a problem with it. There are no instructions nor any written warranty that come with this item, so I can only rely on this product page statement as a lifelong warranty.
