Goldfish are very dirty and this filter in one hour saved me so much time and work. I had to move the filter to keep my fish from feeling like they were in a tornado but really impressed! Instructions are sparse but it really works!

It may of just been mine but the top wouldnt stay on. It seemed solid and well built and the jet was insanely powerful, but my top would not stay attached and kept falling off so I returned it. Fast and easy return.

Great filter that helped me clear my algal bloom within a a few days. The UV light was the main selling factor for me and it truly did its job well.

I didn’t expect to write a whole saga about this filter—but it ended up being the thing that finally cleared up a tank disaster I was on the verge of giving up on. If you're dealing with green water or a persistent bacterial bloom, this can work wonders... as long as you're prepared for the intense flow.WHY I TRIED THIS FILTEROne of my 20-gallon tanks had been clouded by a relentless bacterial bloom for weeks—thick white-gray haze that resisted every trick in the book: beneficial bacteria additives, large water changes, daily filter floss swaps, reduced feeding, and even water clarifiers. The tank had been cycled for three months, but things spiraled after I added guppies and cluelessly poured water directly onto the sponge filter during a water change (which sent all the built-up gunk into the water column). I also extended light hours to help my plants, which only triggered green water algae on top of the bloom. At that point, I knew I needed to try UV filtration.SETUP & FIRST IMPRESSIONSThis unit has two separate power cords—one for the UV light, one for the pump—and includes an air hose with an adjustable valve. However, even at the lowest airflow setting, the current was like a whirlpool. Within 24 hours, a guppy got trapped behind the intake vent and didn’t make it. Floating plants tangled around stem plants like a twisted mess. It's way too strong for delicate setups without modification.Out of frustration, I unplugged the filter section but forgot to unplug the UV light. Two days later, I looked into the tank—and for the first time in weeks, the water was clear. I could actually see the back wall again.HOW UV FILTERS WORKUV filters use ultraviolet light to neutralize free-floating algae and bacteria. When these microorganisms pass close to the UV bulb, their DNA is damaged, which stops them from multiplying. That’s what clears up cloudiness. Even if the filter part isn’t running, natural tank movement can still carry water near the UV light—just more slowly. It’s incredibly effective at clearing cloudy water, recommended for 30+ gallon tanks with minimal small livestock and minimal plants. I searched several hours to find a product that was more of a HOB style with a sponge over the inlet --to no avail; so I'm considering just running the UV lights with the water pump portion off for the time being.

I was pleasantly surprised by this filter. I have purchased more expensive, high-end filters in the past, only to find my tank dirty by week two. This filter has a traditional build and was super easy to assemble, with very few parts, so I didn’t waste time figuring out the instructions. I cycled my tank a few times since this filter is for an axolotl, but it worked great. It operates at a noise level similar to what you would expect from an average filter, which is a nice bonus.
