Trailer hitch install tips to put on Amazon.Definitely much easier with two people. Very nice that it comes with the fishing wire. The instructions were in with the bag of bolts.Rubber exhaust holder grommets oil really well with WD-40 to take off and put back on oil again. Makes it much easier. Use a pry bar to pry them off and use really big players to put it back together By squeezing with a big set Of slip joint pliers or channel locks as they're called.Read instructions thoroughly to get more details. Some are hidden on different pages. Also, you can look up the instructions in color and be able to zoom in by going to the website under support put in the model number of the hitch. It's under installation sheet finder and it downloads a PDF document to your phone that you can open up and view it in your downloads. Black and white pictures were useless.

This hitch fit my daughter's 2010 Ford Edge as if it was made for it. The completed installation looks great/professional. The video at the supplier's site (link shown in the product listing) was extremely helpful. That video was for a 2008 Lincoln MKX, but the installation is exactly the same as they share a common underbody. What the video helped me see that was less clear in the paper instructions was how to use the fish wire. The fish wires supplied did the job well as documented. The only things I did a bit differently was to cut out a V notch on the heat shield near the middle attachment bolt, keep the fish wires on while installing the hitch to "guide the bolts on easily", and for the rearmost bolt (3rd set of bolts after hitch is installed) fish wire, I put a 70-80° bend in it about 4-5" behind the fastener point because the angle you need to get it out the rear of the frame was too quick. The recommendations in other reviews to buy the 17/32" drill bit (I got a cobalt to make cutting easy) was great advice. It has been years since I installed one of these so it likely took a total of 2 hours of time between watching videos and the actual installation. I did this with the rear wheels lifted up about 10". If you are not mechanically inclined as well as having robust 6 point socket tools including a torque wrench rated to 110 lbs, I would not recommend trying to install this yourself.

I my application, which is a 2014 Edge SE 3.5v6, this is actually a class 2 hitch in that application according to [...]. The quality is perfect. The application is a challenge to install, but that is the fault of the vehicle, not this product. Do buy a 17/32" drill bit to drill the holes. This took me about an hour and 15 to install. I used oil change ramps, a ratchet strap to hold the exhaust, and a jack stand to assist in holding the hitch while I worked out the bolts. If you are good with tools and work on vehicles, you can get through this installation. If you aren't familiar with working under the car, I would hire a local shop to do the work.

I have used Curt before and anticipated an attractive well built hitch. The instructions were great down to little details like removing plastic plugs. It was like someone was there that had done this before helping me. Great experience.
