I ordered this door security lock to keep our toddler out of one of our basement rooms. It's low enough and easy to operate, so doesn't slow down adults needing access, but keeps the little one out. It came with all the necessary hardware, as long as you have a screwdriver, although I would highly recommend a drill with a Phillips bit, as it will take a while to do by hand.

This door security latch is well worth the investment for that extra security and peace of mind you get, it’s inexpensive, easy to install, very strong and is not an eyesore

This is just like the door locks in the hotels. Its heavy duty, and was easy for my husband to install in just a few mins.

* Overall Impression:-This is a good value for a sturdy secondary security door lock that provides extra protection vs standard locks.-It has the direction to push clearly labeled on it to make it easier to use.-It won’t replace a standard keyed or smart lock, it’s a secondary lock for extra security.-Do note, you can not open it from the outside or unlock it, lock it with a key or from the outside at all. It is a manually operated lock that can only be operated and engaged from the inside of the door and home, not the outside.-Be sure it will fit your door size, style, swing direction and measurements.-Note that there are several variations in the listing, I’m reviewing the satin nickel version.-Note that no installation instructions are included, you’ll need to understand or learn how to install it on your own.* Pros-what I liked and what worked well:-Good value for the style, quality and weight capacity.-Good quality, well made, well finished, sturdy and heavy duty.-Nicely polished and finished, no rough areas or burrs.-Interior use.-Has the direction to push to open it clearly printed on it to make it easier to use. It has the word “Push” printed on it (engraved) and an arrow pointing to the direction and area you should push.-Rated to withstand up to 800 pounds of swinging door force or impact.-For inward swinging doors (not outward).-Childproof (it would be very difficult for a child to open it, however keep this in mind in an emergency that if they needed to exit, they likely couldn’t open it or the door).-Satin nickel finish (in that variation, there are other variations)-Zinc alloy construction.-UL certified.-ADA compliant.-Installation hardware is included. (But you will need your own powered device to install it.) 3 inch installation hardware is included.* Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well:-No installation instructions were included. You’ll need to know or learn how to install it on your own.* Tips & Thoughts:-Note that this can not be unlocked with a key from the outside. It must be opened manually from the inside of the door. If you need to be able to open a door from the outside, you will have to have this lock open and disengaged otherwise the door will not be able to be opened.-Keep in mind that in an emergency situation, this is going to be harder for help or a first responder to get through in an emergency vs a door without this style of safety lock if they had to try to get through a locked door to give assistance. It may be something to keep in mind to decide if it’s right for your door or situation.-Even with this, it may not prevent someone from entering with enough force or the right equipment. But it should slow them down quite a bit and prevent standard forced entry, if engaged and installed properly.-You’ll still want a standard keyed door lock and set with this as well for doors you want or need to open from the outside or with a key and lock. This has no key, it’s a manually engaged lock from the inside and can only be engaged from the inside, not outside. It can not replace a standard keyed door lock and deadbolt, which you’ll also want.-Note that this does not have an alarm on it or alert, it’s not that style of lock. You may also want to add a door opening alert alarm with or without a keypad as well. There are inexpensive battery operated ones without a keypad or alarm service that work well, are easy to install and have loud alarms.-It won’t work for every door style and installation, and your door must open in the right direction and have the proper spacing for it to work on your door.-Be sure and read the listing pictures and details for the measurements to be sure it will work on your door style, swing direction and size.-It will require installation and you will need to use your own standard household powered device to install it.-You want to practice using it to be sure you can easily and quickly open and close it as needed. It does have the word Push written on it with an arrow pointing to where you should push.-Note that it will only work on outward (not inward) swinging doors. It will not work on sliding doors, double doors or French doors. There are other styles that may work on those, but this one won’t.-When you install it, be sure it’s a comfortable height for you to easily reach, and if childproofing, above the reach of your little one (think about their reach as they grow as well).

I have an airbnb suite and this is perfect for the inside door for added security. I have had residents doubt that I change the code for the lock, so this will allow them to have peace of mind by knowing that someone will not be unlocking and opening the door from outside. I love it. It looks great so it doesn't distract from the nice trim around my door. It is made of high-quality material and I really like how durable it is. The whole thing is easy to install and feels like it is super secure!
