We use this timer for our pool circulator. It has worked well for two seasons. It's easy to use and I hope it lasts for many seasons to come.

Perfect for 3 months. Every two weeks or so for the next three months the timing seemed to skip a cycle. At the 6 month mark we started using the timer's manual override to operate it. Now the clock works for part of the day but the timer is useless.

Have had this installed for just over a month and the timer has stopped working. This is the 2nd one we've bought. The first one lasted a couple years. Will definitely be looking at a different model this time

The directions are a bit sparse but it’s also not an overly complicated process. Only heads up is that the pins for setting the On/Off times are a pain to get back on if you unscrew them too much and they come off the timer wheel. Even with that issue this is still a terrific timer and exceptionally nice build quality.

Timer replaced an older timer. Husband was able to hook it up without any issue. So far so good.

Just follow the instructions, easy to install. Put it in a garage to time a post light out on the lawn. Works good after setting time and timer.

I love this timer! It replaces a fussy Tork digital timer that went belly up after about 3 months of use. My guess is a power surge zapped the electronics rendering it useless. This is a very sturdy strongly built unit made of steel. You can ground your wires directly to the box. It’s a mechanical (not electronic) switch as well... there’s a solid “clunk” when the timer goes from off to on and back again. The protective heavy plastic shield for over the potentially live contacts has its own set of screws. Very nice. The instructions were surprisingly well written (no doubt by a native English speaker... is that too much to ask??). Included were actual pictures of the unit with superimposed pointers to the indicated connections making it very easy to set up.The only downside I can point to is that they include only one “off” and one “on” for the 24 hour clock day. I have to believe you could get a few extras from GE if your needs involved having off and on more than once per day. It’s been working flawlessly for a week. I suspect I won’t need to replace this unit for quite some time!

While this device is very similar to an Intermatic, the instructions for installation are clearer. While the Intermatic device uses terms like load, neutral, line, leg and ground, the GE timer, says "White wire here" and "black wire here"... It makes for a super simple installation, if you're using a pretty standard wiring scheme. The other feature of this device that beats out Intermec is the timer clips. They screw into dimples that are drilled into the timer disc. These dimples and screws with elongated grips for finger-tightening, make it a breeze to set. It doesn't make any noise like the previous timer, and was easy to mount in the same bracket/mounting holes. It's a way better design and a few dollars cheaper. If it lasts 10 years, it will be well worth the money.

I bought this to replace an older one which controlled my pool pump and was very pleased initially when unpacking to see that it seemed to be well made and at $40, was good value. My views changed after installation, as you will see below. It was relatively easy to install and I found the instructions to be fairly straightforward. One thing that I found surprising, regarding the instructions, is that there is a note in the 'Warning' section which states "grounding must be continuous and in proper electrical contact in all grounding conductors, metallic conduits and grounding terminals" Nothing wrong with that, however, the instructions only state that the bare (ground) wire is to be connected to the ground lug on the metal box. No mention is made of connecting this to the ground terminal provided on the metal plate of the timer module. Without physically connecting these by an additional ground wire, grounding of the module is dependent only on good metallic contact between the module and the box. This would normally be adequate to begin with but in a few years there may be corrosion which could reduce the connectivity. To be safe, make sure you install a ground wire between the ground lug of the box and that of the module. GE, please include this in the instructions!Incidentally, the grounding instructions only refer to a "bare" wire which is common on 3-core cables. Proper installations for pool pumps or water heaters, for example, would have a separate green insulated wire, so the instructions should include this possibility. GE, again, take note. After installation and double checking everything, I threw the breaker switch and pushed down the 'ON' lever, expecting the pump motor to start. Nothing! I knew the pump motor was okay so immediately suspected a problem with the the new timer. It's motor was running as I could hear it by putting the tip of a screwdriver on the module plate and holding the handle against my ear. So I removed the module and found that when switched to the 'ON' position, there was a gap of about 1/16" between the contacts. This, of course increased when switched to 'OFF'. I had to manually bend the spring steel arm to make sure there was firm contact pressure, to avoid the risk of arcing and premature failure. Fortunately, it was an easy fix but it may have caused others to send it back for a refund or replacement. I don't understand how this managed to pass Quality Control at the factory, assuming it underwent QC. Had it not been for this glaring error, I would have given 5 stars.Someone has previously commented on the trippers becoming loose and it's easy to see why this could happen. The heads of the fixing screws are only about 50% of the diameter of the older style and so are difficult to adequately tighten by hand. You really need to use pliers to get them to firm up properly. Also, potential buyers should be aware that only one pair of trippers are provided, which means if you wanted to control a water heater for instance, you could not have an early morning session plus a later period at night. You are restricted to one session, which somewhat limits the economical advantage of using a timer. Might be worth inquiring if additional trippers are available. It's now the 25th January and I just wanted to provide an update to say that so far, the timer has been working flawlessly. Also, if you want the best price and fast, personal attention from Ben, the owner, order your timer from Buyer's Point.
