FYI, this device is not solar powered. I guess I thought it might be. However, it's designed to recognize daylight and night. I followed the directions, and it worked perfectly, turning on my outdoor light at dusk and off after the desired time, i.e., 2, 4, 6, 8 hours or dawn to dusk. Would purchase again for additional applications and recommend.

we were hoping that it had dusk to dawn setting. it doesn't. description does NOT claim that it does. we were hoping that was simply overlooked. otherwise, it's a fine timer. (there IS a dusk to dawn intermatic timer, but it's twice the price; to get a lower cost dusk to dawn, we went to a competitor that has them for less than $15.)

It was not easy to figure out, but once we did it worked and appeared to be working fine. It quit working in less than 4 months. It was rated for outdoor and cold weather. Did really well in December/January but quit in March. Would return it if we were within the window and will not purchase it again.

Of course its and intermatic so good brand. I chose this one over all the others because the plug is at a right angle so it hangs straight down with less stress on outlet and plug. Is worked great for a few months out in the weather.

This review is for the Intermatic HB31K specifically. It was easy to set up and use and worked fine for six months. At right about six months I noticed the LED lights it was attached to were on all the time. Tried to unplug, reset timer pins, cycle time indicator but no change. Lights come on in the on position, go off in the off position but when you set it to timer they come on and stay on. Tried letting it run a couple days to see if it corrected but it did not. Only had one string of 25 LED lights attached to timer. This was used outside but under cover of the patio, no rain or direct sun. Will not be planning on buying again.

I've been using this for over two years and it still works great. It made it through two Chicago winters and a lot of rain and still works just fine. Writing a review now because I'm about to order another one. I do not use the dusk to dawn feature since I only want the string lights on for a couple of hours each night.

I've had this plugged in on my patio for the past six months and it's worked perfectly without a blip. Pretty easy to set up though the instruction manual wasn't the most descriptive, I was able to figure it out regardless. I don't live in a super rainy area (I'm in Southern California) but we had a pretty wet winter overall by California standards and it held up really well. Not sure if it would do equally well if you live in a monsoon area but I'd imagine it would last just fine. I'd recommend this.

This is one of the many poorly-designed products on the market. No instructions on back. The only rain protection this baby has is a flimsy plastic cover that can easily blow open in the wind. The plug-in cable is about as short as you could get. When the little pins are down that means "On" -- intuitive, right? No pointer to set the current time. There is a switch you can rotate to one of three positions: "I", "T", or "O" -- intuitive, right? Finally, there is no switch to set the target device ON -- you have to change the timer pins. Finally, the timer pins for part of the rotation are difficult to reach with your fingers -- who is going to use this? -- a child with tiny fingers? Does this device do ANYTHING besides the absolute basics? I need something better on all features.
