This wasn't hard to put together. The instructions came on a small card with some picture assists and there were wrenches and bolts/screws included. We aerated my lawn after a rainstorm earlier in the day, which made the ground softer and easier to work with. I am heavy and the tool was easy to use for me, both in penetrating the soil and in removing and repositioning. I tried to make my son do the lawn, but he's only almost 100 lbs and had a lot of trouble getting the prongs to penetrate and loosen from the soil. He had to kick on the plate several times to get it to work, which was tiring him out too quickly. So you do need to be heavy enough and tall enough to have the leverage and force to use this easily, otherwise it might be too irritating.

This was easy to assemble and easy to use. It actually was kind of fun to use or at least cathartic. you have to be able to balance a little bit while pushing the aerator into the ground. You're also supposed to wait until after your lawn is soaked from watering or rain. I did not look up how to actually aerate your lawn until after my initial evening of using it. Needless to say, it was much easier to use once the lawn was wet. Our soil is rocky and clay, so I wasn't sure how well this would work, but it works fine even in my soil. I am a little over 5 feet and the height seemed pretty perfect for me to easily use it. However, if you're taller, it might not be super comfortable to use. Like I said, it's almost fun or at least relaxing to use.

Does the job for what they promise, sturdy and well made, nothing fancy, easy to use and store, not too heavy.

The Jardineer lawn aerator worked well in my yard. My lawn is not very large, so it is ideal for my needs. If you have a very large lawn it might be too much work, considering it only removes two plugs at a time. I used it after a substantial amount of rainfall, eliminating the need for additional watering. Many years ago, I had a similar tool, but it never worked well. The tubes were longer, and the plugs didn't push out, but I think with the tubes having a shorter distance to push out on this one it seemed to work much better. It was easy to use and cut right through the tight roots in my lawn. The cushion grips on the handles are a plus if you are using it for any amount of time it was comfortable. It looks like it is well made and since I will only be using it in the spring and maybe the fall, I think it will last. This just needed a little assembly when it came, all the holes were lined up well and it fit together good. They provided everything you need. The screws, nuts and even two wrenches to tighten them. It's a decent price for a yard tool.

I am on the fence on how much I like this product. On one hand it does exactly what it is supposed to do, aerate the lawn. On the other hand it does it two holes at a time which depending on the size of your yard could be very laborious. So I went ahead and gave it four stars because it is a solid construction, easily made aeration holes, and with the proper job helps aerate those hard to reach areas that may be missed by a larger rolling machine. When I first tried it out my soil was still rather wet even though it had been a week since the last rain so I did not get well defined plugs but I would assume there is a good sweet spot between too dry and too wet which well just take trial and error. All in all, I would only get this if you have a small yard, or for that additional help.

This lawn aerator does as advertised. When you step on it it creates two holes into the Earth a few inches deep. Each time you do it, it pushes the previous plugs out and they fall onto the ground.I tried it on a semi-clay lawn a few days after rain. It was easy enough to get the implement into the ground when you stepped on it. I know from experience with these types of devices that if the ground doesn't have some moisture in it you'll have a very hard time getting it to work. On the flip side you can't be soaking wet or you'll just create a bunch of mud and probably won't get plugs out either.keep in mind that since it only pulls out two plugs, it's really only appropriate for small areas; unless you've got hours and hours to do a whole lawn. If you were doing a whole lawn you'd be better off renting a real aeration machine from a home center. But for small areas this one works perfectly fine.
