While the product seemed fine most of the time, and I was happy with the thought of being covered for both smoke and carbon monoxide, there were far too many false positives, almost as if it was trying to remind me that it was there. The silence function is not effective, and I'd have cases where every 10 mins (how long the silence works) it would just go off again, regardless of what I did.I live on the ground floor and we tend to leave open the windows most of the time, so perhaps something nearby, or the humidity, or something else was triggering it?The false alarms were far enough apart that I could put up with it for a while, but after 1 1/2 yrs I just gave up and disabled it.

One of our worst purchases on Amazon. Barely a few months into using it, it started going off repeatedly and continuously for nothing -- even in the middle of the night, which was NOT amusing -- and became impossible to silence. It literally just did it again and we threw it out.

I have a whole house standby generator. I always worry about carbon monoxide fumes getting indoors if the wind is blowing the wrong way toward the bedroom during a storm or hurricane. I installed two of these alarms in the bedrooms and now I have the comfort of knowing that the fumes are not getting indoors no matter which way the wind blows. Being that we have a gas water heater inside the house, this is a secondary comfort to know that if the burner ever starts acting up or the flue pipe corrodes and lets CO into the living space, these will detect the odorless fumes.

I just install 2 of the Smoke/CO Alarm P3010K-CO per California law. They were very easy to install. The instructionswere easy to understand. After installing the base to the ceiling you twist the alarm on to the base. For this product you will need to make sure the tabs on the base are alined to the slots on the alarm. You will need to press lightly. The alarm will give a chirp to tell you that it is activated. The middle button is the test and the hush control. To test just press the button, after the alarms rings press the same button to hush the alarm.. That's it!!!

So far, so good! No false alarms. A funny thing did occur a few weeks after I starting using this alarm. I was out of the house running an errand and got a call on my cell from my next door neighbor that my alarm went off. I asked her if she was sure it was mine and she said yes. Two weeks later I get another call from her, this time I'm home. She asks me if my alarm is going off and I say, 'No, I'm here at home.' Then in the distance I did hear an alarm, seemingly from another house around the corner on the cross street. At that point I knew that this was the alarm she heard the first time and was incorrect in stating it was mine. I then started appreciating this alarm a lot more! I guess someone in our neighborhood either has a bad alarm, is testing it a lot, or has lots of smoke and/or CO in their house.

I like these alarms, they seem annoying sometimes, as just my wife steaming vegetables or making rice can set them off, but they work great. Not even a full day after receiving this unit, our third Kidde Alarm total, we had a fire. The hot water heater set the base, wall, and floor on fire, but the alarm went off before it was too large, got the wife and children out of the house, grabbed my Kidde Fire Extinguisher and kept it from spreading until the fire department arrived. I will never again complain about the sensitivity of these alarms, most other alarms would have gone off when it was too late and the fire could not be contained. I basically had it fully under control in 30 sec from when the alarm went off. It gives me some great piece of mind knowing these alarms will perform so well when things can go so wrong so fast.

We chose this because it is a dual sensor and more capable of detecting smoldering fires that are more likely to occur in kitchens. We mounted this just outside our kitchen area. The mounting fixture was a little odd. There's a small, circular plate (about 2 inches in diameter) you mount to the ceiling or wall by either using the 3 screws provided or a large, plastic plug that looks kind of like a wall anchor for drywall. The screws provided weren't long enough to reach past the drywall on my ceiling so I used the plastic plug. Regardless of which mounting option you use, the alarm mounts by sliding onto the plate and is twisted to secure it and activate the enclosed battery. You have to twist with some force to get it to click and activate the battery and the plastic plug mount option is not as secure as screws in wood so it started to turn in the drywall when I did this. It seems secure enough to stay put, but if I have to take the alarm down for any reason (painting, cleaning, etc.), I'm afraid it may not be as secure when it goes back up because the plastic plug mount has already shifted in the drywall from the initial installation and I suspect that tends to weaken the hold. Other than that, the product seems well made like the other Kidde alarms we've installed. I just wish they'd settle on a single style of mounting hardware because of the 3 types we've mounted, all three were different.

When we bought our house 10 years ago we installed battery-operated smoke/CO alarms. Smoke alarms should be changed at least every 10 years, so I did quite a bit of research before buying new Kidde Worry Free alarms. The alarm on our main level was in a hallway and was so susceptible to nuisance trips from cooking that our kids didn't react to the stupid thing. Hitting the hush button worked for a few minutes and then it went off again. If we were using the broiler or cooking food above 425 F, we'd preemptively pull it down off of the bracket and pop a battery out so it wouldn't go off - needless to say, that practice REALLY isn't safe. Plus, changing batteries twice a year got expensive and annoying. Additionally, it was an ionization sensor and I believe that photoelectric sensors are far preferable in alerting occupants to the most deadly house fires. I really wanted photoelectric sensors in our new smoke alarms as they respond to smoldering, smoky fires far faster than ionization alarms. The Kidde P3010K-CO Worry Free Kitchen model smoke alarm features a photoelectric smoke sensor and a CO sensor which work together to reduce nuisance trips from cooking. The installation was very simple, I just used a screwdriver to remove the old alarm's bracket and install the new bracket in the same place. The multi-sensor alarm works beautifully and we've had ZERO nuisance trips from cooking! It has a loud siren and includes a hush/test button. The battery should last for 10 years and needs no replacement. So far, we're very happy with this alarm and bought two of the bedroom model for our bedroom and our kids' room, and a living area model for our unfinished basement.
