the mounting ring fit existing holes from old smoke detector. No maintenance as the battery should last 10 years. Installation was easy. affix the ring to the ceiling and then twist and secure the smoke detector to the bracket. you do need to align it a certain orientation so that the tab in the ring activates the battery. testing it is easy and the alarms are distinct between smoke and CO by number and length of beeps. the voice alarm is also helpful in determining the alarm if you forget the sequence. average price for combo detector. it didn't come with mounting screws. luckily the existing screws fit the mounting bracket.

Luckily I have not had occasion to test whether this works, but the test functions work and it was easy to install.

This is a combo smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector together. I noticed that in the market there are not a lot with both combo. Firstly I would like to state that the quality is good, as the product feels well made. My issue is with the installation. The 'legs' that is to go into the back plastic plate is not very well designed. one of the 'legs' have a notch on it and the detector is mount to the plastic disc in only one way in. You will have to look for the leg that is different from the rest and match this with the back plastic plate. This was quite troublesome for me as even when I match this two together, it was tough putting it in. The battery is activated automatically when the back plate and the unit is put together. To take the unit away from the back plate, there is a small notch that we have to push in to turn and unlock the unit from the back plate. I do not think that this product is designed well with features which are unrealistic. My opinion anyway. Now with that said. the unit works as it should and the alarm is tested to work well. Price wise, it matches many of those that are in the market.

I purchased this because it is a dual detection device. Both smoke and carbon monoxide. The carbon monoxide detection device I had previously was hard wired and battery backup. I really didn't know these were available so I decided it was a must have for the basement. Easy install. Easy instructions. Device is kind of weighty, and larger than regular full size smoke detectors. The alarm is L.O.U.D. but that's not a bad thing. The voice thing is strange, it freaked my dogs out, for sure. Now, it claims to have a 10 year battery. I am always leary about these types of claims. I'm not saying it's not true. I'm just not going to rely heavily on the claims. I will be checking it, just like I always have, twice a year, Spring forward and Fall back. It's what I was taught and it's just a couple of seconds to make sure that your family is safe. If you can't spare a couple of seconds a couple times a year double checking the smoke detector in your house, why bother even having them? Maybe it DOES last 10 years. If so, that's great. But if not, well, I don't want to find out late that it doesn't. All in all, a fantastic peace of mind detection device. And I would purchase it again and I would recommend it, too.

Clear instructions for easy installation. I have some smoke detectors from the same brand that offer a magnetic mount, but this one is too large and heavy for that. I did have to drill holes and use screws. I had a little trouble getting it activated, but only because I was being too delicate with it and didn't get it forced that last bit of turn, which has a little more resistance because it is pressing the activation button.Testing is easy with a big button in the middle to hit. It is extra loud with different beeps for each followed by a clear voice so you know which beep you just listened to. The same big button will be easy to hit with a broomstick if it needs silencing.It could need silencing because I have it very close to the washing machine. The instructions explicitly suggest this is a bad place because of the extra humidity. However, this is also near a possible CO source (water heater) and that level of the house only has a single old CO detector around the corner from the stove. The area is somewhat ventilated to the rest of the house and we tend not to wash with hot water. It hasn't had a nuisance alarm so far, so the compromise seems to have paid off.
