Your cart is empty.This 8 piece set of mortise chisels is made by a small tool manufacturer in the Czech Republic and is of exceptional quality. The blades are made from fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel and hardened to Rc 59. The blades takes and holds an excellent edge. The blades are accurately ground. As with all edge tools, they will require some sharpening before use. These mortise chisels are an excellent value for a good quality tool. This is a set of 8 mortise chisels. It contains a 4, 5 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 mm chisels. The blades are 5 7/8 inches long and are ground at a 25 degree bevel. The blade widths taper .030 inches from tip to shoulder for sidewall clearance. Thickness of the blades taper from 3/8 inch at the tip to 1/2 inch at the shoulder. Handles are stained Beech and are 6 1/8 inches long and 1 1/2 inches in diameter for a good firm grip. The blades have a well-seated heavy steel tang and the handles have 2 steel ferrules to withstand heavy plows from a mallet. Overall lengths are 12 inches.

Pricy, but well made and will function to cut mortises, as intended. I purchased some time ago some Narex rat tailed wood rasps and was pleased with the quality and function. I used, for years, wood chisels to mortise, but finally decided regular wood chisels simply are not designed to be used to perform mortises. Very nice. And I bought a leather pouch and the leather pouch is great to hood these chisels.

I'm kind of put off by the fact that I had to buy a whole set to get the one size I needed. Otherwise, they are perfect.

After using some lager thinner to get rid of the coating these needed no honing to do amazing mortices. As for staying sharp they did a great job and I was cutting mortices in bubinga. They don't hold an edge like my blue steel Japanese chisels but they cost 1/20 the cost and they are still sharp enough to make me happy.

These are really nice, super rigid chisels. You do need to sharpen them out of the box. They don't require flattening, though. The grip is nice and fat and comfortable. These make deep and through mortising so much easier.

The Narex mortise chisels are fantastic. The weight is just right to work with, not too light, not heavy in my hand. The steel stays pointy for a long time as you are hammering on to the mortise. Just very happy with the quality and value. JJ from Houston

I have some other Narex chisels, same style of handle, that I got several years ago. They're great tools at a good price. This set is another good example. They're sturdy, and they take and hold an edge even working on the hardest of woods.

This is my second set of wood chisels I have purchased made by Narex. I haven't taken the time to sharpen these as of yet but I am quite impressed in how they are made. I am a newbie when it comes to woodworking but I always enjoyed woodworking when I was back in High School. This set should get me started in learning about making mortises and I believe the quality of these chisels won't let me down, for years to come.

The Narex mortis chisel set was delivered in excellent condition. Other than the tools being packeged well; the chisels were delivered being very sharp and very well made. I have purchased other Narex tools in the past and I will order more in the future. They make a quality product for an affordable price.
