Easy to put together and works perfectly in my tadpole aquarium. Filters their water without sucking the tiny tadpoles in like traditional aquarium filters.

Large sponge filter with many added perks, it has a included air stone with tubing to connect it so you can have the bubbles come out smaller, it also included two replacement sponges and includes ceramic media balls that go in the bottom, for the price this was a bargain IMO

Air driven sponge filter with compartments for ceramic balls. This filter comes with a spare set of sponge filters and two small packets of ceramic balls. The quality of the filter is like what you would expect at this price, it goes together easily and posed no problem at all. There's really no moving parts so the filter should be durable enough.I have this filter in a 20 gallon tank and use it in conjunction with an internal filter that has a combo UV light. So far the water is clear and all the water parameters are good. The fish love to swim against the flow of this filter.I would recommend this filter.

This aquarium sponge filter is a really effective way to keep my tank water clean. I like that it uses an air pump for power, and the combination of the sponge and filter stones seems to do a great job of catching particles and purifying the water. It's also surprisingly quiet. Setting it up was simple – just connected the air tube. I appreciate that the water flow is adjustable and that the filter components are easy to take apart for cleaning. It works well in my size tank and seems gentle on my fish.

I’ve tried just about every kind of filter over the years — HOBs, canisters, you name it — but lately sponge filters have been winning me over, and this one is no exception. I originally grabbed it for a spare tank I’m cycling, but it ended up being perfect for Steve’s aquarium instead. He’s my betta, and let’s be honest, he’s the boss of the place. The setup was super easy. The quality is way better than some of the flimsier sponge filters I’ve seen — it feels really solid. You get four good-sized sponges, three filter containers, and a couple bags of filter stones. Everything fits together without fighting with it, which is always a win.I’m running a beast of an air pump across a few tanks, so getting this plugged into an extra outlet was no problem. It runs really smooth, the bubbles are nice and fine, and it’s way quieter than you’d expect. You just get that soft bubbling sound — no annoying buzzing or rattling. Plus, the outlet swivels so you can aim the flow exactly where you want.Steve gave it his official fin of approval pretty much immediately. He’s loving the gentle current and keeps swimming through the bubbles like it’s his own personal spa. I’m honestly pretty sure he thinks I upgraded his whole world. If you’re thinking about trying sponge filters, or just want something reliable and easy to clean, this one's a total win. Super simple, super sturdy, and Steve says five bubbles out of five.

This is a solid dual-sponge filter that works well for my 20-gallon aquarium. The two large sponges provide excellent mechanical and biological filtration, effectively doubling the surface area for beneficial bacteria. The sponges have medium-sized pores, although the micron rating isn't specified. The inclusion of two spare replacement sponges is a great bonus, making maintenance easier and allowing for quick cycling of new tanks by transferring a mature sponge. The water flow created by the outlet is sufficient for a 20-gallon tank, and I can easily increase the flow by adjusting the airflow from my air pump. However, I do feel there is a notable design issue with the placement of the internal air stone and airline tubing. It doesn't extend deep enough within the filter body, which likely limits the potential water flow and suction that a filter of this size could otherwise generate. The addition of a media ball chamber in the middle of the filter further restricts how deep the airline tubing can be placed. Additionally, the number of media balls included in the kit was insufficient to fill the chamber, although this wasn't a major concern for me.Nevertheless, this sponge filter works great for my 20-gallon tank, and I would recommend it for tanks of this size and smaller. While the product description claims it can support tanks up to 55 gallons, I seriously doubt its ability to create adequate water flow for such a large volume, especially if it's the sole filtration source. Unless you have additional circulation in a larger tank, I feel that 20 gallons (maybe up to 29 gallons at a stretch) would be the realistic upper limit for effective use with a single unit.

Sponge filters are perfect for shrimp or very small fish fry to avoid getting sucked into a standard hang on back or canister filter. I found this Qwakay aquarium sponge filter very easy to setup. The sponges were a bit squashed and mis-shapen from being jammed into the box. I soaked them in water overnight which helped. The large surface area of the sponge provides a great medium for biological organisms for my shrimp to graze on.
