This is not user friendly. It is like it belongs in another country that makes cans differently than the US. I could never get it to open a can.

I had to wait a little while to find a can that needed an opener, but once I did, this opener did the trick. I appreciated how it charged up quickly, in just a few hours, and is always in the drawer, next to the manual can openers. This one won't hurt to use, if you have arthritis, and it is pretty easy once you get the idea.There aren't sharp edges so this style of can opener is not only faster and easier, it's safer. This tool has a nice heft to it, and makes it easy to dispose of the lid. You could even put it back on the top of the can if you really want to do that (like with dog food). I wouldn't, but you probably could.This style of can opener that pries the lid off rather than cuts it off have been around for a while, and this device automates it so anyone can safely open and old-school can. Most of the cans in my cupboard seem to have the pull-ring making can openers unnecessary in those cases, but it is nice to have this around for those few old-style cans you come across. Better than having to buy Band-Aids!

Very cool automatic can opener. Great for people who have problems with their hands. Magnet strength is very good, I can start it and walk away with no issue. Very easy to use. Perfect functionality. The lid removal is a little different than your normal can opener. You will have to kind of just pull up to get the top off. I actually like this method even better than a traditional can opener. It seems safer, avoiding any sharp edges on the can.

Can't handle anything thicker than a tuna can. Useless for pet food or larger cans.

This thing works a treat. Probably really great if your hands are not so great or arthritic etc.As long as you keep it charged up, it will be great during power outages as it doesn't require any power plug or any electrical outlet to plug into.Press the power button on top to turn it on & watch it go around the can, and press another time to turn it back off. It will take a couple of seconds for it to turn itself off after you press the button, but that's all there is to it.The type C charging port is a pretty narrow opening, so USB-C plugs that are fatter on the end will not go all the way in. I have some headphones that are like this too, and I have some USB-C cables that will go into these more narrow openings so I just used those and one of my multi outlet USB chargers to charge it up & it worked great. Charged right up. Of course you can just use the USB-C cable that comes with it, but I like cables a little longer anyway and had one of mine plugged into my own charger. The supplied cable is good but a little on the shorter side.I would still keep a good manual type hand can opener around as well for extended power outages or in case you run this one all the way down unexpectedly. Otherwise, this is a really neat & handy can opener.

This automatic battery can opener is great for reducing hand fatigue when opening cans that don't have a pull tab top. It gives a safety edge after cutting which means the entire lid with rim lifts off so there are no sharp edges. There is a cable included for charging that lights up while charging and turns off when charged. Sometimes, there are large time gaps between my need to open a can, so I'll just have to check later on how long a charge lasts.The first time I used the opener, it rotated around on its own pace while I watched, but the lid was still adhered. So, I repositioned and pressed the button again and let it rotate (the top button must be pressed to stop the turning, it does not stop on its own); I removed the opener but the lid did not stick to the small magnetic disc on the opener, but it did open the can. The unit is a substantial palm size and feels sturdy and well made. Time will tell how well it holds up in the long run.This will be perfect for using whenever I need to open a can instead of a manual one.

One qualm I have is not with the can opener itself, but with the advertising. They clearly show an opened rectangular can, like a Spam can. This will not open any lid other than a circular lid.But it will do that very well. Just put it on and push the button. It's not especially quick, but it's not very loud and it's very effective. Importantly, it's one of those that opens along the side of the can so there are no sharp edges. You can even put the lid back on the can for short-term storage if you didn't finish it all. Make sure you follow standard food safety procedures if you do that, though.
