This is not specifically about the refurbished player listed here, but for the identical player that I bought to replace the refurbished one, which was a piece of junk. I wrote it off to being refurbished. Now I know it's the player itself, intrinsically a piece of crap.Among the things it does: It refuses to open 2 out of 3 times. It will refuse to play a DVD after just playing that same one the day before. It's moody, it's hormonal, it's in a perpetual funk with no sign of logic or decent behavior considering I have not beaten it to death with a baseball bat like the iconic scene in "Office Space." However, I plan to get the satisfaction of doing just that once I replace this incurable scrap heap reject.... and you can be very sure it won't be with a Sony.

Have only had it for a week, but it was simple to set up and simple to run. The remote is nice and compact and has good, quick response to the machine. Our previous dvd player had an enormous remote, and there was LONG lag times anytime you hit a button, and the Play/Pause button was huge and plastic and actually made a loud clicking noise when you hit it. So this one is GREAT!!I only pull a star because I haven't had it long enough to testify to longevity

okay if you turn your volume on at least a notch or two over the halfway mark. my tv is connected to a sonos soundbar and anything below the halfway mark is LOUD! cant even concentrate on the movie. sounds like it's going to overheat. if you live in a condo, townhome or apt...watching during quiet hours with your window or patio door may be an issue because you have to turn the volume up.

This is the second Sony BDP-S1500 I have purchased. The first one was on the TV in the living room and it worked great. I recently purchased a 1080p projector for the basement and got it all set up. I moved the Blu-ray player down to the projector, but still wanted the option of watching movies in the living room so I purchased another one. I was happy enough with this player that I now own two of them. I don't need to stream anything on the player because I have a computer hooked up to the TV, so this one having the ethernet port on the back gives me the option to hook it up if I want in the future.

Player works well, and seems to have enough useful features to make it a good buy. My only complaint is that, as with many players these days, it could use more outputs. I would have liked an RCA audio output as well as the coax one that it came with. My older receiver doesn't have a coax input, and I don't see a need to replace it just yet.

Very small and light weight. Plays blu-rays as sharp as my little tv will display. I Put it in my 2016 Bambi Sport travel trailer to replace the outdated DVD player that Airstream provides. Because of the size of my trailer, I didn't have a lot of room for a standard size player. I used a VonHaus by Designer Habitat Floating Adjustable Shelf Wall Mount Bracket to mount it on the wall under the TV. This shelf folds down for travel or when not in use so the player is out of the way.

For a refurbished unit at the price I paid it is fantastic and works better than the more expensive unit I bought and only lasted for a year. This one is great and has great feature especially with the Netflix and Amazon prime combo included

I purchased this because I wanted a basic Blu-ray player for watching dvd's and Blu-ray discs and its does both exceptionally. This unit connects to the internet via an Ethernet cable. My t.v. is a smart set so I have not used the smart features on this unit. This unit has a very small foot-print and is very attractive. The remote is small but comfortable. This was a refurbished unit but if one didn't know that you would think it was brand new and besides its a Sony and Sony has never disappointed me.
